Default What is Ballistic Performance Components?

Hello,

My name is a Chip Spalding and I am one of the owners of Ballistic Performance Components (Ballistic Performance Components) and I also manage KWS Motorsports (KWS MOTORSPORTS N. CHARLESTON, SC (843) 552-7177) and we are a new advertiser here!

KWS Motorsports is a full service customer race shop that has been in the business of building race bikes since 1994. We have also run a professional race team since 1999. In 2001 we won the FUSA Unlimited Superbike National Championship, in 2003 we won the Top Privateer Award in AMA Superbike, and in 2009 we ran the Factory Aprilia AMA Daytona SportBike team with riders Chaz Davies and Aaron Gobert.

In our quest to get weight out of our 2009 Aprilia RSV1000R race bikes we started researching lightweight battery technology. We used some existing vendors but were not happy with the product so we started to develop our own. In an effort to make this technology available to our customers we formed Ballistic Performance Components with our long term partners, Millennium Technologies. This combination of KWS Motorsports extensive hands on professional racing experience and Millennium Technologies industry leading manufacturing capabilities lead to what we believe is one of the best powersports products on the market today, the Ballistic Performance Components EVO 2 Battery.

The new EVO 2 battery is the sum of over 16 months of building, testing, and developing batteries for our own race bikes and feed back from our customers. The EVO 2 uses custom made proprietary cells, cases, and connectors that are made specifically for the purpose of starting motorcycles. This is not a collection of commercially available generic parts wrapped in shrink wrap and assembled in somebody’s garage or imported from China. This is a purpose built product designed and engineered by an American company with over 20 years of racing and manufacturing experience.

Product Highlights:

- Up to 80% smaller than the stock battery
- Up to 10lbs Lighter than the stock battery
- Service Life of over 2000 cycles
- EVO 2 Batteries use hard mounted brass terminals for a direct replacement installation
- Completely “Dry” technology so batteries can be mounted on their side or even upside-down.
- Completely non-toxic, recyclable, and can be air shipped
- Applications for bikes from 50cc - 1800cc
- Tested extensively by professional race teams
- Impact and water resistant
- 90 day free replacement warranty
- No special charger required.
- No trickle charger required, loses only 10% of charge over a year of static use.

Thing that I don't get is on your products page, you have this: "The 8 Cell model will work with most stock 600cc – 1000cc" and on your home page, for the 8 cell scroll, you have this: "The 8 Cell Model is our primary product. The 8 Cell model will work with most stock 750cc – 1400cc multi-cylinder motorcycles."

Sooo, which is it, 600 or 750cc? 1000cc or 1400cc??? Curious as your webpage is battling against itself. If it is your primary product, this probably should have been a priority to get the wording right, it will only help your cause in the long run.

This battery will be a nice addition to the list of batteries though, Senor Gar already has it in his ride and is loving it!

You are posting this about 2 weeks too late. I just replaced 2 of my batteries and don't intend on swapping these out until they are dead.

Is your battery with truly equivalent power output really 80% smaller in size? It seems to me that you are comparing your 4 cell, when we probably need the 8 or 12 in our bikes.

Hi Chip

So what is the Battery is needed for the Fury and do you have a side post battery?
I mean if the Evo is smaller, the bike uses copper L brakets to connect terminals, will there be enough room to pull the cables up and connect all the accessories?? Extra lights and heated jacket connector?? The space is small for the Fury battery house.
Thanks for the heads up on your Company!

Any thought on a GROUP/FORUM sale on batteries?? Just a thought.

I have never understood why a company that boasts how long their product lasts only give 30 - 90 day warranties. Put your money where your mouth is.

Especially when charging $237.99 for a battery. What is the benefit? I can replace a factory battery many times for that.

Gotta love a company that throws out an ad thread, then doesn't respond to any of the members. More great customer service.

You have to remember RSS that compression and number of cylinders make a big difference on how hard the bike starts. Maybe its 600-1000cc High performance 4 cylinder sport bikes and 750-1400cc lower compression v-twins.

I would say the 8 cell would do fine in the Fury unless you have motor work or lots of extra lights then maybe go with the 12 cell.
