THE RAFFLE
[U]Those attending the meet to Ride the Tail of the Dragon will have an opportunity to purchase as many raffle tickets as they want with all proceeds going to a charity yet to be determined. Raffle tickets will be a $1 each. You will be able to see all the Products/Gift Certificates from each company sponsor and place your ticket in that box for the desired item you would like a chance to win. You can put all your tickets into one box or spread them through out! You may not win something and then again you could win a few things. Either way you gave money to a good cause!
A few members have PMed me and posted about a few good ideas for a charity to team up with in regards to the raffle. I've made some calls and reviewed the options... There are so many!
I'm happy to announce the the Charity for the Fury Nation Dragon Run Raffle will be........ THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT!
http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
This decesion was made due to the fact that we are able to enjoy our motorcycle passion because they have fought and lost for our freedom. Most of them can not enjoy now what we experience when riding so the least we can do is remember, honor and try to give back to a great cause in helping our wounded brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, husbands and wives.
I'm am looking forward to this meet at the Tail of the Dragon and encourage not just Fury owners to attend. Feel free to invite others in your area!

Eric, I think it is great you are taking the lead on this run. We all had a great time last year and I can think of no one better than you to head it up this time. Of course, I would like to be first in line to hook up with you in Statesville and borrow half your trailer again. That is unless someone else has spoken for it. For those of you that did not make this run last year, you owe it to yourself (and Steve) to make it this year. A run you will never forget.....

I think my girl may look to come up and ride her 750 Shadow, but its still too far out to determine whether she can get off work or not. Glad you looking to join up again!

Shorty and I were friends, talked a lot, mutually worked on projects together and had a few beers from time to time. Least I can do is make sure this Dragon run happens at least a 2nd time in his honor.
I will give some time for any to object so in about a week, if no ones spoken, I'll post the dates that a previous poll showed that most voted for in June. I will set up information on the Tail of the Dragon website as a Fury meet and work out what I can with local hotels as well as provide links. I like the raffle idea and will be talking directly to Fury part providers in sponsoring/donating gift certificates/products/etc... for a raffle system for those that attend.

Other obligations prevent me from giving this my full attention and attendance sorry, I had no intention of "bowing" out.
In any event... the Microtel deal is still available, with a 15% discount on the rooms. I do recall them asking everyone to book before April though. You have full reign of their conference room as well.
And as a side note family members have asked me not to engage them with this memorial for their own personal reasons, this would only be a Forum event, please respect their wishes.

I unfortunately cannot attend this. Had to choose between the dragon or Indy. Maybe next year. Have fun all and be safe. Last time I was there there were alot of young stupid kids and alot of car traffic.
