Do I have to have FC with Viper2?
Hi,
I am new for this forum, actually, for any forum. I've just bought my Fury and very happy with it. It is the best bike I ever had.
Now I am waiting for my Viper 2 (velvet black) arriving. Before I ordered pipes I asked my friend, who is genius in motors and bikes, if I need to buy a fuel commander with pipes and he told me that the original Honda computer does its job very well, so I don't really need to spend money on FC. Is my friend right?
Thanks

Yes and no, W/out the fuel controler your bike will run leaner (our FI system is preset for throttle position and RPM to select how much fuel to pump). This will more than likely cause your pipes to turn blue. Also with running lean you are more likely to burn exhaust valves. You will probably also get popping on deceleration too. Because of these 3 things i say yes get a fuel controller. Since your pipes are black it may mess with the finish from the added heat of running lean
But your bike will still run without a fuel controller, and it will be a bit cheaper.
Because of the things involved i would suggest a fuel controller but with just pipes it isnt quite required, if you add an intake to the equation it becomes alot more important though and to help safeguard your exhaust valves i personally think its worth the extra 200-280ish to add to the bike

MooseR, also remember most black pipe coatings are not Baked but are considered Green, they are very easily scratched until heat is applied. Cover everything so you dont bump them during install. Call manufacturer for heat breakin secquence times.

I put a set of Crobras on mine at about 500 miles and pulled the baffles out and ran it that way another 1000 miles and did not have any trouble but last week I put a spike cleaner on it and a fuggin controller. Just good sense but pipes alone with baffles probably not.

Thank you imwright. I've just ordered Fuggin FC. Hope it will come soon. I'll install both Viper 2 and FC together. Don't want to take a chance...

Depending on how much you spent for the fuggin FC and how much on the fly tuning you want consider sending it back. They Dynojet Powercommander you can ge off ebay for 260 and it is much more adjustable. Only draw back to power commander over the Fuggin FC and the Cobra is that Cobra and Fuggin are adjustable on the fly the Power Commander you need to plug into a computer.

True, but I believe Power Commander is a better deal, Why you might ask? The FC numbers seem to be all over the place, even with same set up, however with PC you can take it to dealer, and for 35-65 dollars, the dealer just calls up PC or Dynojet for correct map for configuration you are running. They have dynoed most configurations and have the maps in database! That's the way I remember IT. Good Luck

fuggin viper
just ordered a black fuggin viper pipe and spoke with honda dealer and fuggin. If you keep your factory intake but add a viper pipe you will not need to order the fuel controller. If you change the factory intake at all you have to have the fuel controller added. Good luck!
