It’s hard to find some of the custom mods that members have done over the years. So I wanted to start a post with custom mods. NOT just ordering something and bolting it on.

Maybe this will explain how I feel and to some extent I think it's much the same for Tony :)
All except for ""I look or improved function avoiding changes that could potentially diminish function or safety""

Oh.... And I haven't been alive for 50 years so I defiantly haven't been riding as long.

But everything els works.

Time for a rewrite then . Eric's words clearly did not grasp the point of this exercise. Much like Eric, Tony and I take a great deal of pride in our ability to see an original idea and bring it to fruition with our own hands. If it's truly original that means no amount of money can buy it off the shelf so we would have to either pay someone to do it for us or do what we enjoy most and make it ourselves.

As I stated earlier, I am not in pursuit of changing Honda's elegant design which drew us to the cash register in the first place. Remember, when asked what we ride, we all say, to a man, "Honda Fury". Yet, deep within our psyche we all seem to have this compelling urge to personalize or rides. For some, the only means to that end is throw money at it. Even if we bolt it on ourselves we aren't the creator of the mod, but we are the author of the overall look :).

In my case a perfect example that many can relate to is the need for extended forward controls. I like the look of the stock forwards and I wanted more leg room. I also wanted a better peg to pedal relationship for my feet. I didn't want a dangling master cylinder which from an engineering and safety view point is not necessarily wrong but simply inferior. So I took a week (40 hours) to re-engineer the layout; measure, cut, grind, trial fit, weld, grind, file, sand, polish, etc.

My last stint at semi retirement earned me $50/hr net. So you could postulate that your cost might approach $2000
. Realistically it can be done for much less now that there is a plan in place. More importantly, this is not about money. This is about the ability to make stuff with your own two hands and the pride that results  no matter what others see. And with very few having made the effort to learn the skills with which we create a little unobtainium maybe we can do a little chest thumping as well :D.

Mechanical tuning for spike air cleaner

With being so time poor between work, house renovations and family I have only a modest contribution but here it is. I made a plate that goes inside a D2Moto spike to reduce the air flow back to stock, so I did not need to use a fuel controller. The calculations and measuring air flow rates took many hours, not to mention riding the bike to see if I had it correct, and I had to recalculate and change the hole size a few times to get the bike to run right.

LED ring… My design on paper… I laid it out in Auto CAD… Sorry but I didn’t do the engraving in the T6 billet aluminum by hand:rolleyes:… I let the CNC machine do that with my program. If that ejects me then oh well. Used an LED strip on the inside wired to my existing LED kit with a clear plexi-glass circle that I epoxied inside the ring. I digitized the skull and cut it out on my plotter. Again I didn’t cut it out by hand so if that too ejects me then oh well again.

Regardless it’s the only one on a Fury. It wasn’t bought from a company. It probably would have been cheaper in the long run had I bought it as a ‘bolt on’! lol!

This tail light mod is with the inspiration of Redspawnsilver. I followed his directions and made a few changes along the way. Since these pictures I have changed it to a single light with a Run/turn/brake module from Kuryakyn and lights from Custom Dynamics. Lifetime warranty on the lights from shorting out or water leakage. I had one strip fail and they sent a new one in place. No questions. Great company!

Platinum Air Suspension for ABS Fury's

If you have an ABS fury you will know we have this in front of the rear wheel

This is meant to be the location for the air compressor...

I found a new location, nice fit you will need a longer hose clamp for it to work

I got some stainless steel pipe, tig welded the ends up, put two nipples on it. One for a breather and one for the overflow tube

That gets mounted under the bike using the hose clamp that come with the platinum kit, the overflow hose just reaches

Yet to be powder coated...

A little tip: If you are using the Sumo-x fat tyre kit
you will need to pull the shock apart and install a 16mm bump stop. (I just cut some solid rubber 16mm thick to the same size as the cylinder and slid it in postion) Put the shock back together... Pump up!!! No more rubbing and you can ride the bike fully down!

It was a pain in the cock to do my last oil change with that damn thing ...
Sounds like you were using the wrong tool, LOL.

Or, you could use slip joint pliers (for removal only) ...

Just move the rubber hose temporarily out of the way ;).

Since I don't need the space ... yet, I'll leave my charcoal canister where it is for now.
If you do remove it, remove the solenoid too then plug the vacuum line and tuck it away for later so you can connect to a hypercharger to make the flaps work  ...

Custom pegs

Tire Motor vehicle Vehicle Bumper Automotive tire

Machined some custom pegs. About 1.5" longer than stock to the start of the spike, allowing me to spread my legs a little. They are smaller in diameter than stock so they don’t drag much, even though they are longer, and let me stretch my legs out just a little further. Besides I think they look mean.

Font Metal Steel

Also machined some passenger pegs. The fitment wasn’t perfect so I am re-engineering these. Can’t decide whether to chrome or powder coat them. They don’t match the front but I don’t care 'cause they look mean too. Might install a quick release pin so that they are multi-purpose… J/K
