I've got a bug-out bag, but I haven't stockpiled food. We are getting some chickens next year and will at some point get a goat and/or sheep (when we move and zoning allows it).
I have been slowly stockpiling shotgun shells and handgun rounds, though.

My friend has been buying a lot of gold and other precious metals saying paper currency will be worthless after the shit hits the fan.
I agree but instead of gold and silver, im stockpiling lead. In lots of small increments.

I am representing a company that is moving into this market on the exact premise you are referencing. I am by no means an economist, but when the economy is down, gold prices rise. Families need cash and there is no better way than to “cash” in on all the unused jewelry that is sitting around. Therefore when gold companies start investing in markets where they can buy gold back at bargain prices, it kinda tells you something

Interesting question and thanks for the description Pete btw... But no, if Armeggedon actually happens, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye as it's not just going to affect a large part of the majority, it will affect all of the society... Think of the discovery channel, "live without humans" series.

Seems like the world in here is the same as the world out there!...some do, some dont, and some are cool any way it goes!..I kinda figure, there will be survivors...I mean we're not guaranteed to have a bomb land in our back yard like alotta people bleev...and, statististics show the the young and old will go first..( That includes me...over 50)...However, I dont think the world will be wiped out completely..I'm kinda thinkin God will leave some older survivors here....to teach the younger people common sense...Also, if youre stockin food and meds and all the other stuff......you need to be armed to the hilt! somebodys gonna take it all from you if your not!
Ok...on a funnier note...I was gearin' up for Y2k.. I was a laffin stock I think, but nobody told me till after the turn!!.after nothing happened, we were drinkin bottled water up until MAY!!!...and greens for almost a year!!

Looks like the 'prepper' movement is going mainstream with a new reality show. Should be interesting. I'm not a prepper myself but a good friend is. Hopefully he will let me into his compound when the shit hits the fan.
'Doomsday Preppers' highlights extreme survival techniques
... I wish this whole idea was some sort of extremist nonesense. I'm afraid it's not.
