Okey-dokey. Sounds like something I do instinctively anyway.
When I hear the term counter steering I think of going into a slide on snow in a four wheeled vehicle and steering into the slide to correct the vehicles attitude.

If you do it instinctively, and since it is counter intuitive, then you must have a right- right, left- left brain, which kinda figures in your case.

Yea, had a hard time with this at first, but the California License Circle test is a pain in the butt... had to practice for a couple of hours, if not more, in order to do it... can't put the foot down or your fail, can't hit a cone or you will fail, can't go outside of the circle with the front wheel or you will fail, etc.... took 3 times to pass that test on a Fury... The messed up part about it, all of the DMV's have a different size circle at each facility... just found the one with the biggest circle cause the fury does not turn on a dime.. You would think since this is a government issued test (as it's mandated by the state at each DMV), that the circles would all be the same size... bastards...

Thanks for the support guys, and yes he was a dick, but in a town my size 5000-15000 withing 10 miles, I have to watch what I say due to my job. If I told him to f off, I would prob see him at the hospital for a test the next week lol.
I tried the counter streering on the way to work this morning and it does feel better even though the concept of pushing away from the way you are turning just sounds weird. But hey it works, just need to practice.
Turn sig was not on, but I have done that before. Also had a 20 mph crosswind, so maybe i drifted or something. Who knows.
wife wants to learn to ride, so I think we are gonna do a course together in the spring. Sure as hell hope she doesnt think she gonna practice on my baby, lol. If she likes riding, maybe a fury of her own. Or a shadow, gotta have bags for all her stuff!!!

i can't say i have heard the 'counter steering' comment related to cycles; but i do know if you want to lean into a left curve you can push on the right handlebar and vise versa.( which could be considered a counter steer) it is instinctively backwards from what you would think- same as counter steering a car- or backing up in a big rig.

Yup, he was just being a dick. Someone that really knew what they were talking about would have thrown out a tip, not a negative comment.
Everybody rides just a little different due to body shape, size, wind gusts, road conditions, personal alertness, etc. A training course is never a bad idea, but the only thing an outsider can really critique would be the laws of the road...i.e. not using blinkers, tailgating, doing something dangerous or illegal, etc.
I know many people that spend more time criticizing that which they are jealous of, rather than enjoying life. They could see a beautiful Lambo, and tell you that they would never own one because of some cornering flaw at 200mph. Then drive away in their beat down Omni hatchback.
Just get out and ride. Nothing will teach you like experience. Anyone not on two wheels will be jealous, whether they admit it or not.
