I just got my chrome SkidLid and HATE IT!
I got what was reported to be a very low profile helmet, model U-70, and I put it on only to be immediately recruited as the spokesperson for the group of mushrooms growing in my yard.
I find it impossible to believe that with today's technology, the best lining in a helmet to protect your head is
$%#@* styrofoam!
There has to be someone out there making a DOT-approved shell the size of these
novelty helmets with a lining that's thinner/less-bulky than stryrofoam ... doesn't there?
The U-70 Chrome SkidLid was about $50+/-. I would pay between $150 and $200 for a quality DOT-approved (not just a DOT sticker on a novelty helmet, folks) low-profile half-helmet in a heartbeat.
But, I can't even find that, on-line.
Anyone have suggestions ... beside "don't wear a helmet"?
