Question Best DOT-approved LoProfile Helmet?

I just got my chrome SkidLid and HATE IT!

I got what was reported to be a very low profile helmet, model U-70, and I put it on only to be immediately recruited as the spokesperson for the group of mushrooms growing in my yard.

I find it impossible to believe that with today's technology, the best lining in a helmet to protect your head is $%#@* styrofoam!

There has to be someone out there making a DOT-approved shell the size of these novelty helmets with a lining that's thinner/less-bulky than stryrofoam ... doesn't there?

The U-70 Chrome SkidLid was about $50+/-. I would pay between $150 and $200 for a quality DOT-approved (not just a DOT sticker on a novelty helmet, folks) low-profile half-helmet in a heartbeat.

But, I can't even find that, on-line.

Anyone have suggestions ... beside "don't wear a helmet"?

Been looking myself I bought the Zox which has said to be some of the smallest profiles and it is almost the same as the skid lid. If you find one let me know

SkidLids have about the same Width and Height dimensions as Daytona's DOT-approved Large helmets:
W=9", H=6"

Daytona's novelty helmets in Large have:
W=8", H=5-1/2"

I need to find a local place that sell novelty helmets to see if I like it any better.

BTW, this one looks damn good in 2-D, but I need to put my hands on it/head in it to see:
Half Shell DOT. Worlds Smallest DOT Helmets

Head Trip Helmets (carbonfiberhelmets.com) used to have the smallet profile DOT half helmets... until the DOT forced a recall and took away their DOT certification.

I'm pretty fond of my Vega XTS half-helmet... I found it more low-profile than the drifter or any of the other half helmets. Have had people ask me what kind it is, that's the only helmet that I've had that happen with.

DJ,

Can you measure your helmet's Width (outside edges) and the Height (sitting on a flat surface, measurement to the highest point of the top of the helmet) and post those numbers, please?
