Default Offer ....

So I took my bike into the dealership yesterday to have them look at the shifting problem I was having (thanks to RSS he told me what to have them do to fix the issue) since it is still under warranty I figured why not. This afternoon I got a call from the service manager and he said he parked the bike on the showroom floor after it was done being serviced and roped it off. A customer came in and asked him if my bike was for sale. Lol. My question is, if you could sell your bike for more than you paid for it and still have enough to buy/redo your mods would you ? I am seriously thinking of doing it and grabbing a white one and having the tins painted matte.

In my case I'd be erasing 9,000 miles so yes, I think I would do that.

I have 13k, but heck, it's a Honda, it's barely broken in!

Tough one. Maybe. Would have to be able to fully cover all the money I had sunk in.

I will know more tomorrow when I go pick the bike up, he got the guys info for me. I only have around $ 900.00 into the bike so far so I would have to ask around 14k for it, but I don't think that will fly as he can buy a new one for that.

You never know what someone will pay for something they want that bad.

It took me a couple of years to get mine where it is now, and it was fun figuring out what I wanted to do, but I am happy with the color and the mods I have done, so I would need to make some extra bucks to motivate myself to start all over.

If you enjoy the process of modding as much as the finished product, than this sounds like a great opportunity for you. Or if you feel like you'll be tired of what you have now in a couple years, then again, a great opportunity.

Interestingly, numerous studies have proven that the majority of people value what they have more than what they don't. That is, for example, I would not sell a widget that I have for X. But if I didn't have a widget, I would only buy it for 90% of X.

If in this case you are being offered an X that works for you, you should take it, as you are unlikely to have that scenario at another point in the future.

Good luck either way!
