East Coast Ride to IndyFest
Riding from CT to Indy through NY, PA, OH
For all that are planning on joining me on the roll to Indy, our overnight stop is Pittsburgh on Thursdau 8/18.
Hotel I booked is the Hampton Inn Greentree
Pittsburgh Hotels - Hampton Inn Greentree Hotel & Suites, PA - Pennsylvania
There's a free shuttle to downtown and Station Square, which runs 7am-10pm. I'm sure some of us will be out past the cutoff time, but 2 miles from downtown shouldn't be a big cab fare. It's in a safer area of Pittsburgh, has good reviews, and is about $100 cheaper than the downtown hotels. Free breakfast buffet and wi-fi.
Just about all the sites are returning rates at about $110-120.

Here's the alternative I am considering as opposed to straight highway (I-80 across PA, to I-70 across OH to IN).
East Coast to Indyfest Route
Whaddaya think? It's the difference between an 8 hour day of riding and a 6 hour day of riding vs a 11 hour day and a 8 hour day... but a whole lot more interesting.

That sounds like a awesome ride. I'm from Harrisburg, Pa and I am a huge Pittsburgh fan ( City and Teams ). Im stuck down in Jacksonville, NC but i would most def be down to ride.

The ride across southern Ohio is nice compared to the flat open land across central Ohio. Taking U.S. 50 & 32 across? I'll be heading down from Cleveland and could possibly hook up for the ride to Indy. Let me know when you plan on leaving Pittsburgh and the route you decide on.

That's what I'm thinking right now... would probably be leaving Pittsburgh about 9am. Still have to get the thumbs up from my CT buddy who's coming on the extra hours of saddle time. Then have to plan out the fuel stops.
