Treat the govt budget as you would a business or your personal budget....

What do you do when you need to cut back at home?

One of the first things is to cut out the frivolities......or abuse thereof. Most people, businesses, try to approach from both sides of the fence. In most cases, you can be far more successful in the short term by controlling outflow costs....you cut downscale the costs of extravagant, non-essential items (like tv packages, cell phone packages, etc.) you cut out any abuse of any expenses...you assess what you truly need to survive and focus and commit on that. All the while, you try to figure out how to get extra income -not only to survive, but to reduce debt as well.....you go into survival mode....at that point, it doesn't matter who got us into the mess, what matters is how to survive...you sell what you don't have to have, you try and see how you can make some more money by working extra hours, or getting additional jobs....

Is our Government doing any of this? Are they cutting out the abuse and waste? Are they decreasing debt.expenditures? Or are they proposing and creating even more debt and not trimming out the garbage? Do they actually do what they say they are going to do? How do they know how much money they need to bring in without understanding and controlling the money they spend?

THAT would get their asses straight f**king in touch w/ regular Americans these days.
We all know they won't do that, in fact they'll do the opposite and give themselves raises.
For once I'd like for someone to stand up and say "I'll take a pay cut to balance the budget"

What's funny about this is a fair share of the house and senate people have come from being business people, you'd think they would exercise the same principles but once you become that official that book gets thrown out the window... can't understand why... maybe the govt should call one of those credit counseling firms to get the budget/deficit straightened out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I still think the only way out of this mess is to raise the taxes... shit I come from one of the highest taxed states what's another 3% I'm used to it by now... If they can't find anything to cut the only option is to raise taxes and not just on the wealthy.

The other day, on MSNBC, Republican Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) told the interviewer - when asked if Huelskamp will vote to extend the payroll tax holiday for the everyday working man - that "cutting taxes doesn't create jobs. we tried that already."

Fine, then reset the uppermost income bracket back to pre-Bush 38% - like it was under the prosperity seen under Clinton's term - instead of keeping it at the 35%. And, make sure you do that FIRST before you start taking away the working man's tax breaks.

If you want to bring the economy to its knees, again, cut the working man's take-home pay. That will help the GOP rail against Obama, but it will be totally in the GOP's court of fault.

Well, I for one am neither Rep or Dem, I am Country First Party. I would like to Yell from the rooftops, Hooray Obama, BECAUSE I WANT TO SEE THE PRESIDENT DO GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY, NO MATTER WHAT PARTY HE IS FROM.
It seems to me that Party Allegiance has overshadowed Country First and their Ideologies has become Cult Like. You either stand with Party Allegiance or you are our Enemies and we will Crush You. It is like Brainwashing that only WE have the Answer, and we will defeat anyone who thinks Different, even if they have the Answer, Because our Mission is Just and Must Survive No Matter What. We Must Have The Power! Where is Country First in that Mode of Thinking? We must not forget that when Obama first took office the Banks were in danger of not opening and the Credit Crunch, Job Layoffs, Foreclosures, and the Deficit growing were already in the Cards.
I must say however that The Rep Power Base from the start, Simply Stated, OBAMA MUST FAIL. We Will Not Vote For or Endorse Anything he Comes up with. I am Not Happy with the Dem's Either.
I for One, I for one do not think that Raising Taxes on the Rich is Bad or Detrimental to the Economy. 3% more is just a Drop in the Bucket to the Rich, Because they Have a Big Bucket and Refill it every year and I Truly Believe They want the Country to do Good, which Affords them More Opportunities to fill their Bucket.
Until every Bill, Must Stand on Its own Merits, with nothing off Subject added, And Cut Fat Not Good Programs and Bills, And We Stop Sending People to War, and Congress Starts thinking, Country First, The US runs the Danger of becoming a Third World Country Run By Fanatical Cults. It seems the Dem's and the Rep's have become Two Armies, and in their Battles Only One MUST Survive, UNFORTUNATELY, THAT WILL NOT BE ME OR YOU, OR THE COUNTRY! GAME OVER, NOBODY WIN'S!

What "F ing" Bill? There is no bill it is just a bunch of words (basiclly the same one he's been saying since 2007) in a campaign speechs, becasue that all the other night was a campaign speech infront of Congress he could get live TV coverage.

What His O'lliness needs to really do is sit down, shut up, and and get out of the way. Government caused this problem and there is not way these idiot can fix it, especially by passing another " Pass the Bill before you read it, so we can understand it"

"This is not a fix to the unemployment problem this another spending nighmare to pay favors to the Unions and special interest groups. Look who he said it would help: Teachers = Union, Construction = Union, more Government employees = Union, Car Manufactors = GM = Union......." This coming from a retired VP of a one of the largest unions in America AFGE, my father and he against this "so called" bill and a he's life long Demrocrat.

Stop spending and Stop passing regulations and let small business know what is happening and let them make plans and they will start hiring again.....

I have an unpopular solution to unemployment. I think they need to quit extending unemployment benefits. . One issue is, I feel, that alot of people will not look for alternate work until they have to. Not everyone, but a lot. Unemployment benefits should be there to cover you will you look for alternate employment not be your NEW paycheck. The problem is, the jobs in most cases that are available pay less than what a lot of people make on unemployment.
Just a thought.

For every dollar of unemployment paid out, $1.60 - on average - comes back into commerce.

I'd like that rate of return on my savings or investments.

We need jobs. We've sent bazillions of manufacturing jobs overseas. We need them back AND we need to tax imports competitively.

Nah man, I'm not buying that. Where did you get that from? So you're saying, on average, the unemployed spend 60% more than they have coming in? Or am I not understanding this......
