Non-Partisan Candidate for Prez in 2012

You have to start somewhere, so I'll begin here - especially with the suggestion of WoodenHorse (Bob).

Here is my Social Security Plan:

If you are currently collecting Social Security or you are 55+, your retirement age will not change.

If you're 50-54.9999, your retirement age will be increased by one quarter (three months).

If you're 45-49.9999, start planning that your retirement age is now 6 months more than the current retirement age.

If you're 40-44.999, plan for 9 months, by the time you get to retirement.

35-39.999: add a year to the current retirement age as of now
30-34.999: add 16 months
25-29.999: add 20 months
<25 years of age: add 2 years to the current retirement age

Progressive roll-out, alone, will help an amazing amount.
Not difficult - 'til someone (like Al Sharpton or Chuck Grassley) invokes something about "gramma"

Here's my Unemployment Conpensation stance:

An employer should be able to log a status update with the unemployment office. Once there are three dings against an applicant for unemployment, they're done - off the program.

It's a sickness some people have - not realizing or accepting the market in which they once worked is no longer lucrative. Too much livin' in the past.

I know a guy that went from close to being laid off from Pitney-Bowes on the factory floor to a Unix Admin because he went back to school for a more viable set of skills.

Here's what I've said about changing DC:

• I will tell Iowa that the cash crop of corn for ethanol is not worth it.
• I will tell seniors of my plan to raise the retirement age progressively and to STOP listening to fire-starters claiming non-factually otherwise.
• I will tell welfare recipients of a plan to train/re-train the currently unemployable to make them viable for themselves AND our nation.
• I will try to inspire a change that makes service in our military or a US Job Corps mandatory for two years to get us back on track to being a producing country.
• And, I won't run for re-election towards the end of my term ... my service will either speak for itself, or not.

My candidacy has, at least, one flaw:

One downside ... I've never been a company owner, governor or office holder. So, unfortunately, there will be some things to learn that only experience will yeild.

BUT, I will not say one thing to one group and sing another song to a different group to attempt to appeal to everyone. AND, I will not employ the same people in my administration who caused issues that need to be fixed (e.g.: Summers, Bernanke, Geithner, etc.)

For those of us in the middle, we suffer from a Catch-22 ... moderates are seldom heard and when they start to raise their voices to be heard they are no longer considered moderates. I will change that! I will raise my voice when needed w/o lowering myself to headline-making statements of idiocy.

First order of biz is to paint that joint. I want to turn it into the Terra Cota House with a barrel tile roof. I'll have to consult with Paul (RoofSC) and see if he can change his username to RoofDC
