Yeah, I just thought my battery was going bad because of the hard start issue, but the battery is not the problem.

Clueless posted something on another thread that had to do with cleaning the starter switch connections. Apparently when you depress the button, it's supposed to cut out the headlight so all the battery power goes to the starter. I guess those connections get dirty in there and they need cleaning sometimes. Just a shot in the dark, but it can't be that hard to take it apart and clean it.

Near 60 huh? Yeah, I guess you're ready for a Geezer Wing. LOL

Well it sounds electrical for one... since your speedo resets itself... (does the time do it as well)

I have my cobra on the same ground, i probably used the same logic you did when connecting it there.

The beauty with electrical shorts is they are hard to find... lol
It's probably more than you want to do since the headache you have over it is now a migraine but put a volt meter on everything you changed thus far and find out what those components are reading out as.

Too much and too little can cause some wonky things to happen. Or throw your OEM back in and see if your problems go away.

I'm friggin' ready for a ride that I don't have to mess with except on regular service intervals. I know my wife would like the passenger seat and ride on the Wing better.......I'd like the distance between gas pumps....but would sorely miss the sound and feel of the Fury. Just can't afford to have payments on both right now.

Really don't know about the clock. I got lazy and last time I disconnected the battery, I never reset the clock....don't even know what time it had before this happened. I've got a meter, guess I can spend an hour or so checking sh!t out, again......................

Well mine does this on a regular basis but I am still running a stock like battery... Replaced the OEM battery with another model similar about a year ago. Worked well until about 1 1/2 months ago. I have really only a issue when the bike is at operating temperature and when I have to stop, fuel, and go. I run the Fuggin FC as well and have it grounded at the same point. I am fixing to go through and see if there may be a problem with all the wiring for the lights I have switched. The dealership said it was do to the FC doing its job and that a goldwing battery works great but the only issue is that it is to big to mount into the battery holder.

Sorry to see you go Wooden but we have to do what we have to do so we can stay riding.

Is it coincidence that you both are running the Fuggin FC and having these problems?

Disconnect the FC see what happens.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm............could be that I'm hitting the start button too quickly after turning on the key on the gas and go's and not letting the controller cycle through........

As a matter of fact, I stopped to buy a bottle of water this morning. When I came out and hit the button, it cranked once and stopped, but I left my thumb on the button this time and it went ahead and started. This is still my original battery. I'm glad I didn't go ahead and buy another battery, because apparently, the battery is not the problem.

It's never let me down. It always starts with the second attempt if not the first, so I guess I'm doin' ok.

Well, I can't blame you for wanting to get rid of it. I'd be frustrated as hell if my bike was having all those problems. Seems like quite a jump from the Fury to the Gold Wing though. LOL You don't maybe want to look at some VTX1800's before you go to the old man bike?

Sounds even more like hydrstatic lock..................
