I can put the leaky needle and seat back in my El Camino and reproduce EXACTLY what you are seeing on the Fury. Hit the starter half or less a turn and acts just like dead battery..hold the switch and it eventually spins it over like nothing wrong.
Would only take one leaky injector or overpressure from regulator to do this. VERY common problem in race cars running alcohol and fuel injected. Not so common in autos as the pressure is lower.

At lunch, I tested the start button 5 times.....would ride somewhere, eat or stop and sit and then start up. All times I waited at least 15 seconds after I turned the key on before I pressed the start button and she fired up and started like a champ each time. Not a dead battery. Not sure if it was the cycling of the fuel processor.
Stingray, you could be right, may be some type of fuel lock....don't know....maybe the new fuel pump is pumping more than it needs to? Maybe it was the fuel controller still cycling through and I hit the button too soon? Maybe a bad electrical connection (although I'm not leaning that way).....
But I sure enjoyed the heck out of the ride at lunch!!!!!

You know Bob... I do remember a few times I did not wait and I think I experienced what you have. I always wait for that engine light to go out then hit the start button. You can hear something too while the light is on. Maybe the pump is sending the fuel at this point in time to the injectors.

i don kno if its the same problem as you, but after i would shut it off and go to restart, i'd hit the switch nothing,it kinda was jus luck i accidently bumped the switch then thats when i heard my fuel pump kick on and it would start fine,so i wiggled the switch then nothing, wiggled it agaain then it would start. so i took it apart and cleaned it and haven't had any problem w it since.

Speaking of....... Today at lunch, I went home to grab something and head back out. It took me 10 minutes more or less before I came back out to leave. I hit the start button and there was the half crank. Hit it again, same thing. This time, the damn thing just would not start. Never has this issue been so severe.
I took your advice, put it in second gear and rolled it back until I felt and heard the engine roll over a bit. Still wouldn't start. Put it in 3rd gear and rolled it over a couple of times. It tried to start but kind of acted like it was flooded. Hit the starter again and she fired up.
Must be something to your hydrostatic lock theory. I owe you for your good advice, because I don't think that damn bike was gonna' start until I manually rolled the engine over.
Thanks for your help. Now, how do I fix it so it doesn't happen anymore?

We shouldn't have to do that sh!t.............check it, roll it, check it, roll it, check it, jack it, check it, disconnect it, check it, jiggle it, check it, push it, check it, cool it, check it, turn it, check it, you name it..............

I know. This is the first time that I just could not get this bike to start without having to do something to it. Did not like the feeling at all. Was happy that I was able to get it fired up with minimal effort, but yeah, with only 10,000 miles on the damn thing; this is definitely bullshit!
I'm going to the Honda shop and tell them what happened and mention Stingray's hydrostatic lock theory and see what they have to say. I'm sure I will not like any answer they have to give me. One, they will act dumb and say they don't know how to fix it, or argue that it's not what the problem is, or two, they will say yeah we can fix it, but here's how much it's going to cost.
Either way I'm pissed because Honda fucked us over with this bike; some of us anyway.
