Harley People??
So I was out and about today and a woman commented on a bike rally shirt I had on and she asked me what I rode and I told her a Honda Fury and she replied" oh my husband and I are Harley people. I hate that attitude some of these "Harley People" have!!! I heard a guy a few weeks ago talking about how Harley is the only thing made in America and I replied I guess you never heard of Victory Motorcycles and he just shot me this go to hell look. I don't care what you ride as long as you are riding so why do people have to act like they are better than you because they have a friggin HD? Anybody else get this crap?

Yeah we get that whole Harley thing here in Oz as well. Funny thing is that everyone other than the Harley boys (including cruiser & sport riders) think the HD people are just jerks. We laugh at them. I get more respect riding a Honda.

Motorcycles
Among the many points of pride for Harley-Davidson (HOG - News) owners is that the motorcycles are designed and made in the U.S.
In 1901, William Harley, a young man living in Milwaukee, came up with the concept of meshing a small engine with a bicycle frame. After considerable trial and error, Harley, working with his friends Arthur and Walter Davidson, developed a prototype of what would later evolve into the modern motorcycle.
In 1906, Harley and the Davidsons opened the Wisconsin factory that, to this day, serves as Harley-Davidson's corporate headquarters today.
While touting its U.S. workforce, the company has battled the import market for decades.
In 1952, it unsuccessfully lobbied for a 40% tax on imported motorcycles, but in the 1980s the company's complaints over Japanese imports led President Ronald Reagan to impose a five-year tariff plan. That 1983 plan raised the tariff of 4.4% all the way to 49.4% on Japanese imports with engines larger than 700 CCs, gradually decreasing, year-by-year, back down to 4.4%.
In 1987, declaring itself profitable and competitive once again, Harley-Davidson made the surprising move of advocating that the tariff schedule be stopped a year early.
A frequent debate among motorcycle enthusiasts has long been whether Harley-Davidson deserves the "made in the U.S.A." distinction, as various parts are imported from Japan, Germany, Italy and even Australia.
Also made in the U.S. since 1998 are Victory Motorcycles, based in Spirit Lake, Iowa. It is owned by Polaris, a Minnesota company best known as a manufacturer of snowmobiles. Polaris also owns the U.S.-made Indian Motorcycle brand.

Yep sign of the economical times, outsourcing for cheaper parts/labour and maximum profits. The only thing about American about HD is that its assembled in America- parts made in Japan and other countries. Yep fact of life.

Top 10 Reasons Why Harley Riders Don't Wave at Other Motorcyclists
1. They're way too cool to acknowledge non-Harley riders.
2. They're too busy daydreaming about owning a real motorcycle.
3. Their engine is too weak to handle the added wind resistance of a waving hand.
4. The German Shepherd (in back of pickup truck with Harley) is easily upset by rapid hand movements.
5. Are you kidding? Risk their lives trying to control a Harley with only one hand!
6. They're too busy humming "Born to be Wild" while fantasizing about being Peter Fonda.
7. They're too busy figuring out how to pay for the next order of genuine Harley accessories (including the "official" HD calculator needed to add up the cost).
8. If we really have to tell you, you won't understand anyway.
9. They can't see you because their half-shell helmet keeps falling down over their eyes.
10. They think we are trying to draw their attention to the parts falling off their bikes, and they are sick and tired of it.

Remember guys, it's not nice to make fun of the mentallly handicapped.
But seriously, there's 2 ways that could have gone... I do have friends that are "Harely People," but they would probably say something like, "Cool, we're Harley People... How do you like the Fury?/Never heard of the Fury, what's it like?". There are some peeps out there that will just walk away when you say a brand other than Harley... There are also others who will walk away when you say you ride a V-twin, and others who will walk away if you say you ride without a helmet.
People will hang and talk with people that think similarly, so no surprise when HD fanboys aren't interested in hangin' with Honda folk. But there's a good portion of HD riders who don't care what you ride.

Some "Harley People" are OK; most are assholes.
Why don't women who own Harleys like to use vibrators?
It chips their teeth........
Why did the Harley owner cross the road?
He couldn't get his dick out of the chicken.........
