Same thing happened to me imwright. The one and only time I went on the rifle hunt, the hubby and I were on our horses riding back to the trailer. We heard, and felt, bullets wizzing past our heads and the horses heads. We started yelling out to quit shooting! We were so incredibly lucky neither one of us or the horses were hit. Some stupid azz drunken idiots were shooting cans against a teeny tiny little hill. We went riding over there and told them exactly how lucky they were they didn't hit us, or one of the horses, and told them exactly what we thought of them. I never went on the rifle hunt again. Although we haven't hunted for years, I really, really enjoyed the archery hunt! Hit a little 2 point one year, tracked him but never ran across him before dark set in. Heard on the news last night that there are an estimated 65,000 deer hunters hitting the hills!! I'll stay home, go for a ride on my bike and probably be a lot safer than sitting up in the mountains right now.

I have never hunter deer with dogs, just not how I grew up. Last bow hunt I was on I got two havalinas (sp?) They were alot like pork, but a little gamier. They guy I took my deer would process the deear for a flat fee of about $40 and then charge for jerky, sausage, etc. It would wind up being $65-$75 depending on what kind of cuts you wanted. He would do everything, all I had to do was field dress it.

Oh, I thought you meant with our Fury's! Here is the residue of the one I got a few weeks back! Got a doe in the right hind quarter at night, ran over it, broke its back, almost went down myself but stabilized and needed the local cops to put the doe down.
Don't try this at home unless you believe in miracles. After filling out the accident report the police officer wanted to check the damage on the bike. After finding none other than deer $hit everywhere and a scuff on my spoiler she suggested I buy a lottery ticket.
Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread from real hunters!

my deer that my buddy got held at gunpoint over was during archery. shot the deer with my bow then the arrow was still in it and the guys were sitting there with their riffles on my buddy.

I try to do all my hunting when rifle season is not in, I bowhunt a lot. Not many people bowhunt around here so I pretty much got the mountains to myself, besides rifle season around here is like a war, shots fired every few seconds. Bowhunting is a lot funner and more challenging love it.

Never gone after a gobler but would like too. I love to pheasant hunt with a good dog (my favorite bird dog was a Brittney Spaniel that my friend had) Growing up, me and my brother were the "dogs" most of the time when bird or rabbit hunting. lol, those were the days!

never have been pheasant hunting but I am a turkey hunter. Love it, I put it up there a close second to deer hunting. We have two different seasons for turkey, one in the spring and one in the fall. The spring season is a lot more entertaining because all the gobblers are gobbling there heads off. I like all different kinds of hunting, just something about being in these mountains of Kentucky that some cant ever understand.
