Default 8 deg tree tip

I know a lot of folks have just purchased the 8 degree kit from L&M.

Make sure you get tight seal on that left fork extender. I'm gonna see how a Honda o ring and some rtv works this time. Also remember if your extenders are fully inserted into the top tree you will measure 1.5" from the joint to the bottom of the top tree!

It took about 9k miles before mine started leaking.

Search honda fury 8 degree trees on YouTube to see my video

Thanks for the "heads-up" Jato. I'm just one of many, that will be doing this install shortly, But I sure appreciate the insight/advice.

Good information J.A.T.O. When my bike goes back together I will definitely make sure the extension is measuring 1 ½” so that I know that it is properly seated. Also, don’t over torque the bearings. 14-15 lbs is all you need.

God Bless.

I just remeasured mine since I have it apart for a leaky seal. It came in at a little over 1.5" so they've worked their way lose a bit ( which I doubt) or my initial measurement was a little off. Regardless just sliding them in by hand isn't going to seat them properly. When I spoke to vtxtreme way back when they said the tolerances on both the diameter of the extenders and the hole in the upper tree were probably at both extremes of acceptability. So unless they have changed the manufacturing process I'm going to assume all of the new kits are the same.

Now for those of you tearing yours apart to fix a leak, be sure to go ahead and replace all of your fork fluid. The book calls for 23.1 ounces +/- .08. After pouring all of my existing fluid out to measure it and see how much I needed to add, I noticed it was pretty nasty. Looks like some road grime and made it's way in.

I forget the specs on the fluid off hand but 2 bottles from the Honda dealer will be enough and still leave a few ounces left over.

Also don't forget to follow the service manual to make sure you got all of the old fluid out and to ensure you get all the air out.

Sounds complicated but its easy and only takes a few minutes.

Default A few more tips

I struggled getting the axel out until I found this thread - Removing front and rear rotors?

My next block was that my 29mm socket isn't thin walled. This is a show stopper! A sturdy, thick 29mm socket won't fit in the recessed hole. I'm dead in the water until I find an acceptable socket
