Default Spring Rate - Back Suspension

Hella again,

i've tested with a few springs but at all it seems that i have to get a komplete custom spring.

So my Question is: Does anyone Knew the spring rate from the stock spring?

It must give a specifikation about wheigt to springway.

Does anyone have any specifications from Honda?

The background is as following:

The new rear fender is about 1,5 " lower (closer to the tire) than the stock fender. I want to get the fender nearer to the tire - so i need a spring that ist one the one hand harder, on the other hand max. 1" shorter. When i use the LM spring the fender goes 1,5" down and (for me more difficult) the rate is to soft for the rest suspension way.

Hm.. i knew a guy who can me build a spring, but i should say what i need..

kind regards..

Dirk

Honda does not publish the info you want since they only endorse the stock spring and not information that would support modification.

Your best bet is to contact Chris at Low & Mean since he has that knowledge from which he has built the modified springs. He may even be able to wind the spring you require ... for a price .

Hm.. the problem is the shipping cost from Us to Europe..

but - my fault - i should order a spring first and than build the fender.. but - so what.

i can work withe the fowolling acceptation:

Spring to wheel Rate is 1 - 2.9. 1 cm at the spring will be 2,9 cm suspension was at the wheel. ( That told me a honda guy) - that will be the same with a new spring.

So we have 9 cm over all suspension way at the wheel - i want to go 3 cm down.

When i now get the original spring dimensions i can set them into a account.

original spring length / (9/2,9) cm suspension way original)= X / (6/2.9) cm

--> (original spring length / * (6/2.9) cm) / (9/2,9) cm suspension way original) = new Spring length

BUT - the amount is completley Bullshit! whats wrong in these account?

Next Idea: When i knew that 1 cm will be 2.9 cm Suspension way. When i now get a shorter Spring - 1 cm shorter - - then the bike will go down at the end 3 cm? Must be so - or not?

So i can order a 1 cm shorter Spring with a suspension way from 2 cm by 530 kg max load? 2 cm at the spring will be 5.8 at the wheel...

Is there any other way? I feeling as i have wood in my head...

regards

Dirk

I was going to take the stock spring and just cut it and drop it down like i have my 1971 Nova....however when i took off shock and looked at the spring i notice the the ends were flat to be seated flush on both ends of the shock seat...so i thought that if cut it down the seated end would round and not seat properly.....so i took it to the very best level and went air ride...i can fully adjust ride and rebound....the look of the bike is totally slamed down is aweesome.... there is a few members on this forum that have the same set up

Air Ride will be a way..

But I find nothing - there are a fewquestions abot this solution:

who can deliver such a system? what will i cost?

What say's the German Tüv - can i drive such a system in Germany?

Can i set an idividual End Point for the suspension way?

Very cool bike you have as we like your style. I would also suggest air ride for the look you want. The stock shock is good but only for the stock frame setups.
Contact me at Support@lowandmean.com and I can help you get an air ride system.

Platinum Air Suspension: Motorcycle Air Suspension System

this is A FULL air ride set up with rebound
there are others out the that just mearly compress your stock shock to lower the ride..... i can raise up my bike taller than stock height and hit the switch and drop it 3/4 inch from the the bottom of the frame to the ground in less than a second.....straight up bass ass ride and look....youll love it
