Yes, it is a tight fit, and letting some air out of the tire makes it easier to install. It's really close to the frame, but it fits without any rubbing.
Does anyone know what make/model pipes are on this bike in this:
I checked their site but they don't seem to have anything even close to it. I am guessing the bike they used in the video got the pipes elsewhere but if anyone knows, I would be interested in finding out more on them.
Seriously, that was my initial reaction! They played it off like it was a bench vise.
Fortunately, my friend has one in his shop but otherwise, good effing luck! :surprise:
Thank you both for the info.
Dayum that sounded loud but I love the look of the pipes plus how much cleaner looking and more accessible the bike became.
Wonder if these would get me in trouble in libtard CA?
I am seriously thinking about getting these but does anyone know if I need the control module if I already had my ECU flashed?
If their control module is not needed, will I have to get my ECU reflashed by Ghul Motors?
My thoughts are "no" to both but the installer from Hacker Customs said he would still advised getting to control module even though I mentioned my ECU was reprogrammed.
I am really close to pulling the trigger on this.
My bike is essentially the same as the red one with black Cobra air intake but my bike is blue, you know the fastest color for Fury!
I am waiting for some feedback on the options though, order it as is or ....?
If Don Ghul reflashed your ECU for dual pipes, then you're set.
I'm not an expert on this, but from experience I would say you want a reflash so the exhaust isn't so EPA-lean, because lean with no backpressure can burn valves. The pros here have said unless you modify the intake it's not necessary, but the reflash and PAIR block-off plates seem wise.
Pretty sure you would not want a custom tune and aftermarket tuner.
The aftermarket tuner dynamically modifies the map stored in the ECU, hoping for a target outcome.
Don rewrites the ECU map with a custom map, guaranteeing the desired target outcome.
Rather than using a tuner to modify the ECU map that Don already modified, it would be better to have Don write a new map that does what you want, such as is tuned for single pipes or double pipes.
Here's Tony from Milwaukee on the subject, which is to say that here straight, short pipes are fine as long as a person isn't being a dick:
I try to rumble out quietly in the morning and around home, neighbors probably don't want to know my comings and goings. Mostly I keep off the pipes, people watching TV while eating dinner, that have their kids napping, or are talking to their grannies on the phone don't want to have me invading their audible space. Honestly, most nobody does, so I just keep it quiet, and really quiet when it's dark out.
It seems stupid CA lowered it all the way down to 80 decibels which is really low. Some of the cops mentioned it'd be OK up to about 95 decibels.
The guy from Hackers said the rippers for Fury are about 101-102 and the quiet insert would drop it below 95 decibels!
He said he didn't really like the quiet inserts because they were too quite. He said the normal insert they come with were really nice without being too loud.
What do you guys think, 102 dec. would be OK or should I get the quiet insert too?
I have no idea how many decibels the stock pipe is?
Also, they are in OR so why are they charging tax? Do they have a distribution center in CA? When I try to place my order, it displayed sales tax.
I sent an e-mail but no reply yet. Probably Monday.
I really like the sound out of the Hacker Rippers, and if/when the chrome flakes off the Cobra slip-ons I'll probably get those with the quiet and normal inserts because:
- If they're too loud for me or a passenger I just stick the inserts in. Maybe on a long trip I want the bike more quiet so my hearing isn't wrecked, or I'm just stressed out one week and the bike is "too loud." (Shut up, it could happen!)
- If I got a "correct that shit" warning I could just stick them in and present, no waiting for a set of plugs in the mail and maybe missing the "15-day, now you pay" window. IF for some reason Hacker stopped making the inserts I wouldn't have to change exhausts.
Not saying what you should do, just sharing my own plan.
No, I totally agree. That as my plan too. For the most part, the non-quiet pipes might be OK as I was told 102 decibels are too loud since it is the max output. I won't likely to be rolling out the throttle like some of those attention seeking douche bags. That said, I much rather have to quiet inserts for another $60 for all the reasons you mentioned.
Easier said than done. I do enjoy and try to make the best of the year around riding weather but I can't deny the fact that this state is becoming more unbearable each year.
When I retire, I will definitely considering relocating elsewhere. Oregon is on top of my list. Not-so-populated mid west states like Idaho, Iowa and New Mexico are other possibilities.
Heck, just very recently, I started thinking about Utah, too. I will move there and make Rope regret ever making the suggestion in his last post.

If you're not attempting to be an asshole, "racking" the throttle, being obnoxious with the Hackers, the cops aren't going to bother you. When you're around law enforcement, use your quiet voice.
I think Sir Ironass is right. Them pipes didn't sound loud at all and I turned the volume all the way up.
For 60 bucks more, I am definitely getting the quiet insert. I am hoping the sales tax thing is a mistake so with that money I can get the quiet inserts too.
Thank you but being an a-hole is something I am naturally good at without even trying, or so I have been told by some of the ladies I turned down. [/sarcasm]
:skellie:
I like the stock pipes sound an sound wise they are not too bad for a Japanese cruiser. I like and prefer the shape of the rippers though. They look better and make the bike look better (and more kustom). Yes, "kustom" with a "k" because I customized the word too. A little louder sound would be a cool +.
Customer Service just replied. Sales tax is an error and they are in the process of correcting it.
I went ahead and ordered the Rippers with the extra quiet inserts. I asked them to substitute the sales tax for the quiet insert if possible to make things easier for everyone since the tax was almost the same amount as the insert.
Can't wait to rip it!
CHP here I come! I am actually in the process of applying as a volunteer at my local PD, so, even if I get into trouble, they might give me a break, maybe?
:hambugler:
Yeah, you'll get more shit because you're new and they're going to mess with you, best bet is to make them laugh, they'll leave you alone if you're entertaining.
I've Cobra slip-ons (used, from @Rope) and think they sound deeper & better than Screaming Eagles or Vance & Hines. This morning in the cold after being off the bike for a week I remembered why I went with them, they were damn loud at idle. I've been told they don't seem loud because I'm on the bike, and they're way louder for everyone else. They're right at the limit of not needing earplugs some days, and have always been comfortable for long trips.
The Hackers--oh the sound is so beautiful! I know they're going to be loud, I've heard straight pipes on the freeway and they're deafening, some silencers are definitely suggested, and at times the "extra quiet" inserts are probably a good thing, at least for me.
I'm glad you went with what you believe is right for you, waiting to hear how it all works out!
Yeah, the Cobra sounded nice and at idle, didn't seem loud or anything. I like the V&H ones too but hearing the stock pipes in that comparison video made me realize they are like mouse farts compared to most any aftermarket ones.
I think I will be happy with the rippers. Worst case scenario, I will have the quiet inserts too (hopefully they will see my notes and include them).
Aesthetically, imho, rippers are the best looking ones. I ordered the black ones because my rims are blacked out and also my cobra air intake is also black. I think the air intake is a little glossier than the pipes but I can re-paint them if that is the case.
Stock pipes are chrome and they look better chrome because of the shape and more so where they are located but positioned right on top of the blacked out engine body and directly below the black air scoop, black pipes made more sense.
You know in the second video when the camera is near the passenger peg, just before the end of the video? The second-to-last is normal acceleration, the last time is mild acceleration. You'll definitely notice a difference with slip-ons, but the video is missing the Oh-My-God factor that you feel the first time you fire it up.
Of course YOU won't be installing slip-ons, so you'd better wear a jockstrap. Chances are the first time you fire it up your nuts are going to jump off, run around, and you might step on them. Your Fury will be that awesome.
You've been warned.
