They're already impressed. My concern is the "sitting around" may be that of a mechanical failure if this mod burns something up. Then, you definitely have an HD-like bike!

an another idea perhaps would be to disconnect IAC and input a fixe value voltage on it !....
With some electronic, one could have something like this :
with water temp sensor voltage values, when engine cold, electronic could let ECU drive IAC, and when engine hot, electronic automatically switch ECU IAC circuit and input a fix voltage in IAC who could be adjust with one potentiometer for adjusting idle...
Perhaps needing a resistor somewhere in this electronic circuit (like an O2 sensor eliminator) to not having engine light on..
no need to drill anything, no need switch...
For someone who know electronic, I think it was very easy to do

Is there any concern about insufficient oil pressure if the idle is set too low? I seem to recall (from my VTX) that if you dropped the idle too low, you may run the risk of damaging the engine from poor oil circulation. Possibility?

Yes I think in absolute it's possible... But I think idle would be very very lower for that, and :
1 - modern pump and oil have high performance today
2 - I reminber some carb hd who had very lower "pot....tato....... pot pot..... potato" idle without fatal issues !
3 - one never let ours engines in idle for long time
4 - must to be confirmed (depending oil pressure sensor location), but if pressure is very lower, light oil would must light on in theorie !
I reminber in sixteen, in france there was THE DS Citroen car... the top of technology at this time...there was a fucking big red light about 5 cm ø in middle on dashboard. When it light on, manual said you must stoped engine immediately...
Mechanic said citroen would have had wrote on it "too late"... because in fact, when it ignited, engine was already dead !

That would be my thought. The purpose of the low oil pressure light is just that - to alert you that oil pressure is at a level where the engine is at risk. If you lower the idle and the light doesn't come on, you should be safe.
