slow idle
I heard a 1300 vtx the other day at a gas station that idled soooooo slow it sounded like it was near dying. I have seen talk about an idle adjustment, but otherwise, is there anything to give these 1300 engines a low, "chub chub" idle? I guess everything is controlled by pcm, but what was done to the vtx? It was probably an 06 or so if I had to guess.

If you want lope with a fuel injected engine, get some custom ground cams.

True dat... the VTX1300's were all computer-free and just needed an idle screw adjustment to drop the idle.

Think that model X was carb instead of fuel injection. Makes a big difference...

I had a VTX1800R before I got the Fury and that was fuel injected but also had an idle adjustment knob sticking out the side of the engine, wondering if this mod is simalur in its design.
regards,
Dewking

Probably. How low could you set your idle below the 800 RPM spec ?

I had a PC3 on my 1800 that had a tach and I set it around 600 rpm, ran it like that for 10 years with no adverse affect.

thats my opinion too... 600 - 700 r/pm will defenitive able- without damaging the motor..
I think the high Idle speed is caused by the exhausegas - at the point by the law about max emission. It's caused by the catalist temperatures. The catalist must heated up to working temparature in a few seconds - and the temperature must be hold all time..
That seems like a good Idea to me.. but the Idle sound is horrible... and thats seems like a very very bad idea to live with that sound
