Default Broken clutch cable

Today I found my clutch cable almost completely cut at the lever's end. It was down to the last two strands with the rest of the strands completely cut off. With only two strands left, the bike would no longer shift into Neutral.
I'm using Kuryakyn Zombie hand levers, but a close inspection revealed no sharp edges or easy explanation for this.
Has anyone else had to replace their clutch cable for this reason?

I own the same grips and never had that happen, even after about 20k miles, it is a shame that this happened... Are you still under warranty? If so, bring it back to the dealer after you remove it from the bike.... If not, make sure to buy some nice aftermarket cables to replace it with....

I have the same levers and have had no issues. But on some of my other bikes I've had clutch cables last two years and snap and I've had the same type same bike last 5 or 6 years. I think it just the luck of the draw. They also say a little lube will go a longways in extending the life of your cables that includes throttle cables. So put a little lube on it and stop yanking It dry! Lol

Unfortunately the bike is no longer under warranty.

Replacement cables are not expensive, but no one around here has them in stock, so I'll have to wait a few days for new ones to come in. That also means no riding this weekend (I know you guys up north will have no sympathy)

I'll be looking for a set of good aftermarket cables (black, not stainless steel) to replace the OEM stuff in the near future.

Any recommendations?

I'll lube them well before installation. In the future I'll drop a little oil in there every now and then.

Highly unlikely, but just to be safe I'll check the rest of the bike real good.
