Cool starter button

Just got my Fury last wednesday and already in the shop! Dealer said they have had several vtx 1800's with short in the start button, hopeing its an easy fix. problem= tried starting, two attempts, clock and trip meters reset. while showing dealer, does same thing. They tried several times and battery drains dead. Dealer guys seem very helpful, hopefully they will fix the problem quickly,,,its gonna rain tomorrow so im not too pissed! first time posting, good to know this forum exists! ride safe all,,,

Welcome to the forum! Glad they were able to duplicate the issue so they can get it fixed.

Also, be sure to start the bike with the low beam on.

I'm pretty sure that the starter button breaks the headlight circuit while the starter is engaged. Letting the starter take Full advantage of all the cranking amps the battery has to offer. Thus it really shouldn't matter if you have the high beam or low beam on, right? Im 99% sure that why they designed the circuit to operate like that. Does that sound about right Gar?

That's how it works alright and the light is only ON for 5 or 10 seconds before cranking. The difference in current draw won't affect a good battery .
