DreamReaver,

Any possibility that there is something specific to your bike that causes this?
Any mod that would result in water running of being directed into the intake, like a windshield a different front fender or any other mods in that area?

I did think about adding that air cleaner to my new Fury, but this report makes me rethink that, although i use the bike in El PAso TX and we don't get much rain here.

Regards
Robert.

No problems here either under a few hard pours, and I also spray water into the intake while washing the bike, and NEVER had an issue, so I am leaing tours the fact that you may very well have another issue some where else that can be causing this problem. Perhaps humitity ot water can be getting into some cretical electrical areas while it's raining hard or not so hard for that matter, that can be causing some electrical shorting some where..., can't say for sure, but is just a thought, and a possibility as well.

Default Cobra Air Intake

I ride my bike rain or shine, and in a few downpours. I've had no problems at all.

However when I got the bike dyno'd the tech said he'd cut a plate out of the bottom that you can't see anyway just to let more air in and to drain any excess water. His reasoning was the more air in the greater benefit.

Just thought I would chime in here.

I have the D&M spike with internal AND external rain socks. Never had a problem until Sturgis last year. In the worst rain I can remember riding in, after about an hour my bike ran very rough due to the water. I think the socks get so blocked that air can't get in.

Other rains have been no problem but I do remember last year and letting her sit for awhile to dry out.

Go to the K&N site directly and look for a sock there. Cobra doesnt make the filter, K&N does. You may also want to re-oil the filter. I know a couple years back when i had purchased the PowrPro there were a hand full of riders that the filter was not oiled. The filter should be red in color when propperly oiled.

Caught in a horrible rain storm last year coming from MB bike week. Rode for about an hour in serious downpour and no issues except stinging on my forehead from all the rain

I rode with my cobra for over a year in heavy heavy downpours and no issues. Strange you have a problem.
