As per me, let me give you an example of one of my incidents. rode the bike for about 45 min to an hr one day and parked it at home after. A few days later went to ride it again, got it started and rode to the gas station 2 blocks away. turned it off, pumped some gas and then it wouldn't start. Got it started by rolling it down a hill and jump starting it that way. All of this took place in an 80F day, so not hot at all.
I read a lot of threads were other people were having issues with their batteries, so I'm getting mine changed. I hope that solves the problem. I also intend to leave it charging during the winter. This is something I did not do last winter, but again, was able to get it started in the spring. So has the battery been weaker as a result? don't know but I've been having the starting issue this summer on numerous occasions.

"wouldnt start" does that mean you heard a click but the engine did not turn over? Or you hit the switch and no sound or starter action? Hit the switch and the engine spins but does not start?

Starting problems

I had the same issue put a new bat in it and it started fine. A monthe later I started having the same problem at first it would seize the first time i hit the starter then go on the second try then it got worse. I thought i had a bad bat but it turned out I wasn't getting a good conection changed my terminal leads and put lock nut on the cables and no problem since ( been a year now)

You can have a faulty connection or ground and it will start hard then run, BUT not charge

What I was told by more than 0ne battery expert, that to store your battery for the winter, remove it from bike, keep it out of freezing weather, place on a couple 2x4s or 2x6, not concrete and use a battery tender, which is SIZED to the amps of you battery, which only come on when battery needs a charge. NOT a trickle charger, which will sulfate a battery.

Scary Starting

I've had this problem since I bought the bike. It is a 2010 but sat on the showroom floor for a year and a half, bad economy. They charged it, and it did fine for a couple weeks. I took it back, they told me the battery was fine, and it was for 2 more weeks, then the scary starting again. Ride, then gas up, and wondering if it will turn over or not have enough juice in the battery. So after reading forums here, I bought the Ballistic 12 cell dry and no more problems. There is some difficulty attaching the leads because of the top mounts. I used L brackets to extend from the battery. And the brass threads in the battery can strip out so be careful! I bought it on ebay for $160.

It was in the 40's this morning, and I'm in FL. Went out to ride my bike to McD's and hit the crank button, and it slowly cranked to a start. Yep, my stock battery don't like the cold. You guys with the lithium batteries, how do your batteries perform in the cold??

velociraptor intake (wire mesh left off); Cannella black riser; dyno tuned
Cobra 3" slips (baffles in); Memphis Shades pop top sportshield; iso-driver boards
Fi2000R, ~120 mls LED lights; C&C SportTour seat; Rebel Bandit ReFlash Hog

Well, I thought the new dry cell fixed the problem, but after a couple months, a scary start after filling up. Did the balance charge, then a month later the clock reset but started immediately after the reset. It was a single button press, reset first, scary feeling, but then starter engage and fire. I'm gonna check all my connections, but for now I'm hooking up the balance charger once a week, and this method does solve the problem. geesh, such a nice bike, but such frustration! Obviously it is not charging while riding. And obvious short or open in some place or multiple places, but where? I'll keep updating this post over the next few years. I'm not getting rid of my bike any time soon.

I still have the original battery that came in my bike (2010) occasional slow cranks became more often , most every time I would shut it down for short periods of time.... like gas stops it would drag half a turn.... pause and then fire up... if it set for longer periods it would normally crank with no problems, 2 weeks ago... on a cool day it drug when I started it to go on a ride. Thought it was time for a new battery.... then I was at Wal-Mart and seen a Shumaker battery charger for motorcycles.... 1.5 amp trickle charger, once battery is at full charge, it automatically monitors the battery and charges only when needed.
Comes with all the hardware.... $20.00, been using it 2 weeks and the bike is cranking like new.... I also noticed when I come in from a ride and plug up the battery to the charger... the charger starts charging immediately...?
But this seems to be money well spent.... Bikes doing great so far!
