As far as I know the the more synthetic an oil is, basically extends just the oil life (yes there are all sorts of other things like friction modifiers and extended heat ranges). So if you change your oil frequently you can pretty much use any oil of the correct weight. Changing the oil more often extends the life of the engine a lot more than using an expensive synthetic or racing oil.
The main thing is to change the oil frequently, which ever oil you use. My personal schedule is oil every 3000 KLM and the filter every other oil change or 6000 KLM.

Yea, that sounds about right if you change it often... that is really frequent though, especially for a cruiser bike. Are you running it really hard or just want to make sure you dot all the i's and cross all the t's as far as bike maintenance is concerened? Usually it's about 6000 km for the oil change then 12000 km for oil change and filter...
