Default Cut or drill baffles?

Question came up while over researching my next mod. I see where some folks have pulled their cobra baffles out, cut them in half and re installed them and others have drilled a couple of 5/16" holes without removing them.

I like the drill method simply because it sounds easier (no removal) but was wondering if there is much of a difference in outcome between the two?

I've worked on cars and planes for a long time but the bike thing is new to me!

If you leave them in you will have to have a long drill bit . I took mine out and used a 1/2 inch drill bit in drill press and put 3 half inch holes in each , sounds great .

BTW this is my second bike but the first one I have actually worked on myself , If you can work on cars and planes then the bike isnt gonna be too bad for ya .

If you have a few miles on the bike the baffles may not come out easily so drilling might be your only option. Start with something like 3 holes and take it for a test ride. If you want a little louder just add another hole or two and repeat till you get the desired results. My cobra baffles are cut with a 3/4" hole in the middle and I have thought about reinstalling them because they really do sound good.

I recommend cutting them *and* drilling holes. Loud but still has a little back-pressure to reduce popping.

just be careful with how far you mod it. I have glass packs and can't ride my bike through 4 nearby towns (got bitched at by a cop in my town). I was going to pull the packing and it was way too loud so I left them in. If you cant get a spare set of Baffles you really wont be able to reverse the work you do.

I had a hard time choosing my exhaust for the fury. Loved the look of the cobra, but loved the sound of the Reaper tips exhaust. Finally went with the Reapers for a old School loud sound. This baby is loud(with baffles in) but I do get some popping. If you guys can get a easy mod for the cobras....then I might go with the cobra in 2011. Btw....what kinda bracket does the cobra use? weight?

This was also my thinking.
I figured I couldn't go wrong for $79.00 getting the thunder monster baffles.
