I am picking up my Fury on Wednesday next week and its all pretty stock other than the Honda sissy bar, and the front wing all orange. I was thinking about the Cobra pipes as I am not crazy about the standard sound from them. If I put the cobra powerflo and the the fi2000 on it as well will I get better gas mileage or perhaps less. I know the tank is only rated for 250 KM total as it is. What are you getting on a tank now? I live in Canada. Sorry for the KM conversion.
No need to apologise for using metric, other than the UK and USA the rest of the world use kilometres. As your bike runs in the fuel consumption goes down (or at least mine did). I generally get about 200 KM before the fuel light comes on around town (mostly in rush hour traffic), so that's 20 kilometres per litre which gives you about 260 KM for a tank. Out of town I get 260/270 before the fuel light comes on or 26/27 kilometres per litre. On the out of town rides it's always two up as my girl comes along and I'm usually doing 100 to 110 KPH.
I have a spike air cleaner, cobra powerpro and a stock US muffler (the US muffler is different to the AU/EU/UK muffler) to give you an idea. My fuel consumption did not seem to be impacted from stock.
Just on the sound, the US muffler sounds a lot better than the AU/EU/UK part. The sound changes a lot when you put a free flow air cleaner on so you might want to do the air cleaner and fuel controller first and then see how it sounds. I get compliments all the time on the sound of my bike, even my Honda dealer says it's the best sounding setup he's heard.
Everyone has their flavor but I don't like the Cobra swepts. SLK's look cool. He's got a sound clip/youtube.
I put on HardKrome Honda VT 1300CX Fury Motorcycle Exhaust - American Classic II Chrome | Hard-Krome
as I like more traditional/subtle looks. Has a really good tone; not to loud but not deafening.
I would not use the fuel controller. I had mine reflashed by Guhl Motors.
