Don't worry Lester, the libs have taken care of that.....they invented global warming.............uhhhhhhhhhh, then changed it to climate change..................they got it covered........no more cold!!!!!!!
global warming my a**. i learned the hard way that using nitrogen was like a false security blanket. all that garbage about not having to refill your tires as often lead me to be 10 lbs under inflated.
you still have to check your levels.
i dumped the nitrogen and went back to good old free O2. oh, and good luck trying to find a nitro station that didn't want to charge me 5-10 bucks per tire to refill.
Been 80 and sunny for days in Chicago land! Almost like I am living in a controlled bubble. Going to be 80 and sunny today, tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday. Very strange.
A couple weeks ago I sat on the bike and the rear tire was completely flat! WTF? Filled it to 40psi and no problems. I know no one let the air out. Valve stem is chrome and not rubber. Was wondering if it was leaking from there. The temp did drop to almost 35 a few nights in a row a couple weeks ago.
we've got a steady storm front this weekend. you snow bunnies better enjoy your Fall weather cuz Alan and I are gonna be raggin your butts come February!
No doubt no doubt. At least I have a Wrangler this year and not tryimg to get around in a 310HP Turbo FWD car with 18" faxctory rims lol. I'm actually kinda looking forward to playing in it.
Ay Carumba! It's going to be a long winter. I may have to take the wife down to Bahia Principe again, but I really want to go to Tikal, but Belize isn't safe.
I had a very similar experience, which was why I posted this. Glad someone experienced the improvement, as well.
There was just something a little "off" when I would negotiate a turn and that totally is gone with the proper tire pressure.
Someone should invent a "tire minder" - like a battery minder keeps your battery charged while it sits, a tire minder would keep your tire pressure up to par while it sits. (i'm just kidding)
Had my fury for about 3 months now. I would always hand check the tire pressure before going riding, and the tires always felt OK. But the front tire was starting to form a question in my mind. So tonight I went out and checked the tires. The front was down to about 16lbs, and the rear was down to about 26lbs. I was surprised the front and back tires would be down so low but still feel hard enough to ride on. Anyways, the front is up to just over 33lbs now and the rear is a little over 41lbs now. I don't know what the pressures were when I left the dealership, but is 3 months a good average time for the tires to be at half there initial pressure??
Two years later, but thank you for this post! I was searching for what my tire pressures would be, assumed the owners manual said on the topic...and while it may have been in there, I sure didn't see it!
Let me add my $0.02 worth. My bike was shipped to me in Cincinnati from Texas. Met the shipper's semi at the local Home Depot parking lot. I rode the bike home thinking this Chopper has a way different feel. It turns out there was very little air in BOTH tires.
Hey FN, I found this thread a while ago and saw your post on this inflator and went out and bought it on your recommend - I used it last week and thought it was awesome! i also think you said you throw it on your tires every two months, (if not in between for necessity) or someone said that. just to keep tip top. anyway Cheers for the recommend and love the product. Thanks!
Nitro, look on the frame of the bike. There is a sticker that tells you what pressure each tire should be.
The sticker says, "front tire 33lbs, rear tire 41lbs."
The small manual that came with the bike also says the same thing.
silly question
My bike in on a lift.
Can you check air in your tires in the air?
Or do the tire have to be under the weight of the bike for a true reading?
Digital gauges arent usually calibrated, but it shouldnt make much of a difference unless you want to know the EXACT tenth of a degree. You do want a dial indicator, not a push rod type.
Also, normally on the ground, but theres no rule saying you cant off the ground or off the bike.
On the ground or in the air if fine. The pressure in the tire doesn't increase or decrease with pressure. If it did, everytime you would sit on it, more air would be lost.
And I smiled when I saw this post because last week when I took the bike out after having it sit for over a month, the front tire was EXTREMELY low! I rode it carefully to the nearest gas station (Not the safest or smartest but I really wanted to ride) to put more air in the front. The back was fine. As I started putting air in the tire, I heard the tire re-seal itself on the rim!! haha!!
I've been keeping an eye on the tire, but since then, it's been great.
