I can't argue with the post by Administrator. I wear a helmet most of the time and like Shorty, I proudly wear by MSF patch as one of only two currently on my jacket. However, as I moved away from the post I thought it was a "please support our advertisers" appeal. Maybe that's just skeptical me. Just my two cents, I'm OK with it either way

All I know is that month ago I changed from short ride in shorts into full gear for longer ride on night of May 12th... I chrashed by my fault completely but cant imagine what injuries I would have suffered if I wouldnt wear all of my gear... I still had bruises, scratches, etc. But looking at the gear I know it took most of it off my skin.

I'm glad your ok...
I am not a very good example of a fully protected rider because I don't like to wear a helmet but I refuse to wear shorts even if I'm running three blocks to the gas station. I've personally watched what can happen by riding in shorts and sliding down the road so it really opened my eyes and now I only ride in thick denim jeans and usually chaps.
but again, I'm glad your ok!

Don't mean this to offend. I was a paramedic for 11 years. I have seen more than my share of bike wrecks. ( Sorry don't believe in the word accident. Usually used by some one who made a bad choice and wound up hurting themselves or someone else.) In your post you said that you refuse to wear shorts because you personally saw what can happen from riding in shorts. Well take it from someone who has had to clean up the mess. You don't want your head to wind up like some I have seen. Road rash is nothing. If you need to see the proof for yourself visit a local head trauma rehab. You will find some startling examples there. I gear up every time I ride. Full face helmet, Gloves, over ankle boots, weather appropriate crash jacket and jeans. For longer rides I use crash jeans with armor and Kevlar. Is it the most comfortable stuff. Hell no! It just helps put the odds a little more in my favor. However I respect your right to maker your own choice. Ride safe and appreciate how lucky you have already been.

no offense taken. its a personal choice we all make
I too have seen severe head trama at the point of impact, still laying on the road so I know for a fact that most don't survive.
I used to drive a wreaker for several years and I spent many nights on the scene of horrifying bike crashes.. seen a dude decapated by a guide wire for a telephone pole, guy rear ended a stopped car and flew 20-30 yards down the road and landed head first. I've seen my fair share before they were cleaned up so I know what can, and usually does happen.
where I live its easily in the upper 90's and higher in the summer with terrible humidity and it is just too damn hot for a helmet... if helmets were required here I'd be a winter rider only because I sweat like a pig. I'm not the only one around here that feels the same way. I might see one rider a day with a helmet on for every 10 bikes I pass.
like I said its all personal preference. if I lived in a crowded area with allot of traffic id rethink my position but out here in the sticks I don't have to contend with much more then bugs and the cow in the road once in a while.

Thanks. i'm happy to be just bruised and so for... However guys like me I have read about.
i never owned a bike. I'm 33... I have put little over 1K miles on fury and I'm still probably very prone to make an mistake which can be called an "accident". In my case I was too tired to ride at too late of time, and I have over reacted to situation which shouldnt have been over reacted... Lack of experiance... Gear for me is most likely the best choice!

I understand, I'm glad your ok.
The Fury is my forth bike. I started out on a mid 80s Goldwing 1100 in highschool, and then went a couple years not riding then I bought a Harley low rider and then moved up to a Road king classic. I got T-boned on the road king and after several surgeries I couldn't ride for well over a year so I sold the bike. I then bought my Fury in February. I probably have around 15 to 20 years of riding off and on...but when I ride, I put allot of miles on whatever I have.
my fury was 4 months old two days ago and I already have over 6000 miles on it. I ride allot.

Stupid hurts
Check out my pics. I don't have any from my first two totalled bikes, but I have always had on my gear.
I'm a fairly safe rider, but I put on so many miles over the years that it is bound to happen.
The last time was my fault, big time, but I had on my helmet and leather.
My helmet has a skid down part of the side and partially down the side of the visor.
Could have been my face or eyeball.
Yeah, I know, I hate wearin it too. Especially when I don't have to legally in Texas.
B Safe, Brian
