Default CHROME!!!

I am about to get some chrome work done, has anyone had experience with Performance EDGE?

I know pete keeps recommending classic components, but I can't get anyone to reply to me from there or give me any answers. I need someone also willing and able to correctly disassemble my final drive and reassemble also the forks. There are no locals in my area to go to, and I don't trust my local dealership to do the dis and reassemble.

I don't have a problem with it taking a respectable amount of time or if the chromer has good communications to tell me it is going to take longer than originally expected, but it seems so many of you have had bad experiences with so many of them. I need good quality and willing to pay for it.

Good luck with finding someone to do the final drive re-assemble. I have been looking for the past 6 months and decided to give up. Just as Clueless mentiioned in another thread, it may be better to polish if you dont have the right tools or a competent shop.

I’m getting ready to tear my bike down and send a few parts, including final drive to Stump.

My comments were that altho I am capable of doing this, the cost for the tools outweighs having it outsourced, I have been trying to get someone to respond to my emails and phone calls for several months as I have had a spare final setting boxed up and ready to go since August. So after recommending this company dozs of times, I find myself looking for someone else to do my own stuff.

Stump did my final drive, calipers and other items and did a very good job.
Think he was 1 day off his quoted return ship date.

Yeah, sometimes he was difficult to get on the phone but a pm or late night call seemed to always work.

I can only speak for myself and say Stump took care of me.

If I'm not mistaken, he does exchange on both final and lowers so you could have in your hands before you dis-assemble your bike.

Some are aware on other sites but I guess in all fairness I should explain here. I have worked for years and years literally 7 days a week 18-20 hours per day and during peak season even more than that. Theres an old saying you dont run a business it runs you. I run more than one business and have things I do that have nothing to do with bikes. As far as the bike parts portion of life we are just a small working shop that has stayed bursting at the seams for years just on word of mouth. We like to think that speaks volumes in itself but we also understand there will always be nay sayers in the mix of any crowd. We have no problem with that. Our position is do what makes you happy. If that means finding service someplace else we are ok with that. We have been doing final drives for years. All work is guaranteed and we'd be happy to do it for you. Pm me your number I will give you a call if youd like but I have no problem if you feel comfortable doing it elsewhere. I take no offense to that whatsoever. personal preference makes the world go round.

As for contact ... In recent months I had a parent who has had some serious life altering health issues I have had to assist with and there have been days .. sometimes even multiple days in a row that I wasnt available because I was away trying to get them the best help possible. In situations like that I rely upon people who work for me to take calls and field messages while also trying to get the work done too. I will admit I have seen them drop the ball a number of times and when I see it I try to correct it fast as possible. All anyone has to do is contact me .. preferrably with a calm head and keep it real and if there is any issue I am always happy to address it. We never have claimed to be perfect. My guys make mistakes and so do I. We all do. I recently viewed my junk email box to find several contact emails in there that were captured for whatever reason and other staff didnt catch. With all of the help they are to me I find it hard to reprimand anyone because they really do their best given the work loads. If this has happened with you or anyone else I apologize. If this is the case for anyone all you have to do is utilize the tools for direct contact with me like the pm box here. I respond as fast as I can.

Many times also I will hear complaints of people who called but cant get thru. Once again this is due to the phone lines staying tied up many days all day long with calls one right after another. It can get pretty crazy around here some days even well after closing hours. at some point the work has to be done too but still yet many days we spend half of the day fielding calls asking is it done yet even when its only been here a couple of days? Some even call having received an automated email from ups or fedex stating their parts were delivered to ask if they were delivered. ( one of my personal favorties ) The irony in that is its a lil hard to actually do the work while constantly answering is it done yet. We do all we can though to assist everyone. Each individual has specific needs and we try to be personable and friendly giving them one on one what they need rather than herd people thru like cattle. No matter which way we go though there is always going to be someone who feels left out. I have sat on the phone before for 3-4 hours assisting someone thru installing a wide tire conversion all the while the phone beeping with others trying to get thru. It becomes a one man with two hands thing and I simply at the moment cant be everything for everybody.

We understand that each customer has one thing on their mind and that is their own specific project/needs and time frames. Yet we here have to address everyones specific needs which at the end of any given day are many. There will be times that murphys law comes into play. Thats a given for any and all businesses. We do what we can and even when there is a problem we are happy to address it. If those we are dealing with use calm level heads they will always come out ahead and are extended some extra courtesy. We dont run businesses to piss people off. Even the episode here today with the wheel that a person needed more time to save money for but somehow felt we'd stolen the wheel for whatever reason. In the end I reduced his invoice today even after what he posted. We talked and settled his invoice and I sent his wheel out on the ups truck. Its done and over no big deal. We have no problem showing some love just stay cool keep it real and take the threats and nonproductive bs etc someplace else. Thats not directed at you personally or anyone else specific, thats just a general statement to all. We are here to assist and work with "bikers" and dont do to well with the occasional walmart toy aisle emotional hissy fitter we see who seriously lacks people skills and doesnt get it.

Theres fast and theres right and we always try to fall on the side of right because none of us like to do anything twice. If it takes a lil longer to make that happen so be it. We feel its the least of the evils and we try to make the proper judgement calls for any given situation. We ARE NOT McD's drive thru. However we do stand at the end of the day as one of the longest running with the most served and for sure as one of the best. We've damn sure done more honda parts including final drives than anyone else we know of. We were doing it long before the fury was on the drawing board.

Either way guys ... I see the point on the horizon and the stage is being set when my day comes to retire and maybe just do a few parts here and there first come first served at my own pace not the worlds pace. I have worked one career before I started this one. Just in the bike thing alone I have worked well over 20 years in less than half of that given the hours worked. I'll be clocking out with time way more than served at some point and smell a new bass boat in my future and some wermz. Better yet some miles on my own bikes for a change that sit idle while I do for the customers. Until then I'm always happy to do what I can.

Thanks for your time.

Paul (Stump) owns a full shop and can do a lot more than just chromers. Classic Components is just a chromer - so they cannot offer tear-down services, last I knew. But, Stump has a full shop that can build an entire bike, as well as his own chrome capabilities (he does not send them out to someone else).

No matter who you choose, remember that you're getting into the season where a lot of people are storing their rides for the Winter and, thus, sending parts out for work (since they can't ride). That means all these guys are going to be busy, busy, busy ... so adjust your schedule to account to their queue.

I know your momma said you were special, but you'll still need to get in line.
