Need ideas, installing 8* trees without a jack.
Finally got my trees today.
Any ideas how to install 8* trees without a jack? Is it possible?

You could try something like this....
Made Some Car Ramps Today - Ford Mustang Forums
Roll it up onto these, then bring it back and onto some big ass hunk of wood.
Basically, try to get the bike hi centered.
Im not sure how you would get it down. Maybe get a couple of yoked friends to grab the front and rear wheels.
Just a thought. You could save yourself alot of hassle and go to Harborfrieght and get a jack for a few bucks.

You have a floor jack? I would say to use a floor jack to jack the bike up and then lower the bike down onto something stable that would allow you to work on the front end, at least that's what I would do if I didn't have a motorcycle jack.

It's not a few bucks. The cheapest one they have on the website is $99.

The yellow one runs about $60 in their stores.
If you do use an automotive jack to raise the bike, use something like a metal plate between the jack and the bottom of the bike. That bottom is cast pot metal and may crack from having the weight of the bike in one central location where it is basically an oil pan.

Don't know how you got your jack from HF for $60, must have had one hell of a coupon, but I paid like $90 if not more for mine from their, plus I got the extended warranty from them, think a two year one in case the lift breaks I wanted to be able to do an in store swap.

This is the coupon I used. It's expired now, but I think I saw it again in a more recent motorcycle mag. Try browsing mags in the book store. The cost is worth it, you'll probably need it again!

You could jack it up with the car jack mentioned with emphasis on using a plate or 2x4 under frame....then sit it back down on some jack stands for a car.
You've got too much work going on and parts hanging everywhere to be "shade-tree'n it too much.
Just think....you're putting a $700 part on a approx $13,000 bike, what's a $100 jack to protect your investment. JMO
