Another dumb question (Starter related)
Is it normal to hear what sounds like the starter disengaging when you shut the bike off. I keep hearing this sound like the starter jumping out of a flywheel when I shut her off...It doesn't happen every ride but it is quite often...
Something to be concerned with?

Guess I haven’t noticed anything. You may want to let some of the guys take a listen at one of your get together’s.

Yeah, Your right.
I listen to other bikes when they shut them off and I've never heard another bike do it so it is beginning to bug me. Doesn't seem to affect anything other then making the noise when I shut it off.

Sure it's the starter and not the fan shutting down?

I hear it almost every time I turn it off. Just thought it was normal. I think it sounds kinda' cool.

If the starter was actually engaged you would have fried that thing after about 200 mi.
I am thinking a relay or some similar device.

I know that click in question... On my XR650R, it has a click when I am finding top-dead-center before starting it. It makes that noise sometimes when I kill the motor too. Maybe someone on here knows the exact part that makes this noise. I am not a mechanic, but I am pretty sure its not the starter and its completely normal.
