I did cut it while the bead was still seated. I did use a screw driver to use as wedge so as to not gouge the inside of the wheel.
Risk factor ... well like i mentioned you are using a rotory tool with a large cut off wheel. The risk is there that you can take off a finger, no doubt. Will i do the same for the rear when the time comes? Thats hard to say. I did it once just to see if i could. Im still finding tar balls everywhere! LOL I was a little more under pressure this time around as i have been putting off getting the new front tire and see if i can bend the wheel back since Oct. Once that is back on the bike i can go for rides on the days it gets to be 50* here on the Island.
