Buy Or Beware (Buyer Beware)
So much going on with regards to purchases lately, I think this topic should be honed - without personal attacks & such - to a basic (and you'd think common-sense) sticky the moderators should post on the main page of the Fury Forums.
So, before I cut out of here for the weekend 'til Tuesday afternoon, here's a start and let's iron this out to what the final cut should look like? Happy editing ... I'm outta here for awhile.
KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY - Get your agreed upon transaction details in writing!
- Pay with a Credit Card whenever at all possible
- If you pay with PayPal, do NOT "gift" the funds, choose Purchase -> Goods
- If the receiver has issue with PayPal's fees:
- they should account for PayPal fees in their price quote, or
- you should gross up the funds by 3.2% to ensure they clear their target amount
- Do NOT send cash
- Do NOT send a check
- Do NOT send a GreenDOT MoneyPak
- Do NOT send a Western Union MoneyGram
- Do NOT send any other form of untrackable, non-refundable funds
- Do NOT send any cash advances due to hard-time/hard-luck stories
- Ensure your product will be shipped in such a method as to get a trackable package number** 'til the item is left at your door (FedEx, UPS, USPS) and avoid FedEx SmartPost specifically.
- If the recipient has issue with non-SmartPost additional fees:
- they should account for other preferred methods of shipping fees in their price quote, or
- you should offer to pay the added cost to avoid SmartPost
- Whether UPS, USPS or FedEx is used, they all offer a Notification List to inform the recipient of tracking information at the time the shipment is prepared ... USE IT!
** If you have the ability to do so, YOU print a pre-paid shipping label with the courier of your choice and send it to the vendor, if need be.

Sounds like a good idea it's hard to know who to trust and who not too now days. I've found personal references are one of the best ways to know who does a good job and has great products.

It is a good idea. I also think references can sway the guidelines. there are people on this forum who has went out of there way (not just me) to help others. word of mouth IS and ALWAYS will be the best form of Advertising.
I bought a failing Pizza shop and 4 yrs later had increased sales from $600 a week to $6000 a week by word of mouth only

I think there needs to be a good/bad buyer/seller thread in the for sale section. A place for everyone to share their experiences with others that they've dealt with. Then people weary of a purchase can look in there to see if the seller/buyer is legit or not. I know other forums have done this same thing before and it seems very successful.
