Selling or buying a speedometer is not illegal. I would never ask anyone to commit a crime on my behalf. I'd like to see the statutes that says it is illegal to buy and sell used motorcycle parts. As far as karma goes, I have a lifetime of credits and good deeds, so I'm not worried. As far as my character, I have plenty of written testimonials documenting my good character, so I overlook unsupported accusations as ignorance.
Yes, altering the mileage on a motor vehicle is most likely illegal, especially in the area of fraud when selling a vehicle to another. However, I'm willing to lose value to me on the bike by documenting additional mileage because I just want to get it properly registered and licensed. Where's the harm or crime in that?
Requiring a used vehicle to have at least 7500 miles on it in order to register it to your state is ridiculous.
Lets say you were in the market for a Fury. You found the perfect one for you in the next state over but a poorly thought out requirement that has zero effect on anything prevents you from registering it in your state, essentially preventing you from buying it or using it on the road. How would you feel about that. Almost sounds unconstitutional.
Now, loud pipes, altered turn signals, handlebars higher the shoulder height, non-approved rear view mirrors, fuel management systems, any modification altering the pollution control system, engine modifications, using non DOT approved helmets in helmet law states, etc are all illegal, so please consider that before making any judgements or casting stones. Sounds like the law enforcement officers on this site have their hands full! I just want to ride a stock Fury licensed to my address. After one year the 7500 mile point would be moot anyway. What a way to start my first thread on this site!
