Wanted: Engine for Sport Bike
I'm looking for a sport bike engine of 900 cc or bigger for my reverse trike project. It must have all the wiring, ecm, transmission, exhaust headers....basically ready to throw on a kart and fire up! Not looking for a shaft drive.
Thought I had a Yamaha R1 but seller backed out. It was small and perfect for this project but others would work. Out of all you guys, someone has a wrecked bike sitting in the garage taking up space!
Bill of Sale would do for the DMV and/or a copy of the title of original bike would help too.
Reasonable in price would be helpful as well. Just PM me if you have something that may work.
Thanks to all.

Try to get a motor out of a gsx1300r hayabusa. They work great for projects like this because they have loads of torque down low and are total monsters when you get them up high. I miss the feeling of rolling into the throttle on my busa, it's one hell of a rush.

Depending on what your looking for you could get a salvage bike and sling the parts to recover some of the cost, I did that for most of the busa I used for my chopper. If you can get just the engine headers are easy to make and if you have the throttle body you could do a microsquirt engine management. Alot of times since its a custom bike production number is low enough that there is no emission spec (depending on state guideline) so you dont need all the other garbage, just that it is quiet enough for DMV and who ever else has to inspect and all your safety equipment is there (Lighting, horn,....)

Thanks for the input guys! I have searched Salvage bikes and the prices seem to run 50% of retail !!! Geez. Looking at E-bay and some on Craig's List but nothing yet.
The only reason I think I need a sport bike engine is that they are small, light weight, high hp and torque. Really want to keep the engine to rear sprocket as short a distance as possible.
I do have a Goldwing 1500 now but, man is that thing large!
Still open ......

If you find something like this you could probably sell parts from it like the rims, gauge cluster, brakes, rear fairing and make up a good part of the cost. Just makes for more work selling everything to recover cost
