I totally agree and am in the same boat. I'm just trying to gauge interest. Is $1,500 for 25hp interesting to you?

i would rather spend 1500 on performance and power like your suggesting than on a sumo-x kit at anytime.

I think the dual intake would be a good first mod before a Sumo-X, so that you have the HP to power a bigger/heavier wheel/tire.

Personally I was also wondering about a molded skull ignition cover, like the skull horn covers for HD. What would be even cooler is if it were hinged at the top, and flip open to insert key, then flip down.

I am not sure how sold I am on the look of 2 spike intakes, but $1,500 for 25 extra hsp sounds like a deal!

I'm not asking for deposits or anything but I need to know who would seriously be interested in looking at this option. Price tag would be somewhere around $1,000 for the dual intake not including L&M covers or intakes. This is an expensive mod but one of the few that would seriously increase power output. 15 - 25 hp depending on the intake, exhaust and fuel controller is very possible. I've seen several folk mention the sumo kit for a winter mod. With a budget crushing price tag near $3,000, perhaps some of you guys might be interested in "function" mod with half the price tag of the "form" mod. Let me know if you'd be interested.
You Have Peaked My Interest... More Horse Power, True Dual Spike Air Cleaners... I Would Have To See It Before Commiting But If Does This And Looks Good I Will Jump All Over It.

Are you saying we will gain 25hp from a stock bike if we ad the dual intake or 25hp by just adding another intake on top of the fuel controller and exhaust?

Either way your not going to gain that. Not even close to that.
There are dyno tests posted on this very site with the after market exhaust, fuel controller and intake and there is about a 5HP gain. AT BEST!
The bore kit on Jimmy's bike along with exhaust, FC, and intake only added 16hp, total. A dual intake would be cool but on top of the mods most of us have. you might get 2 or 3 more hp On a good day. That's $500 bucks per one hp? Who ever told you 25hp is taking you for a ride all the way to the bank.

There may not be any gain in HP.

All the air has to enter the engine through the throttle body. I would think that if you calculated the area of the ‘face’ of the throttle body, as long as the area of the spike air intake openings is equal to that or larger than that, you are not starving the engine for air, so no power is lost.

At that point you could put 10 intakes on the bike, the limiting factor would be the smaller throttle body. Adding 10 intakes will not add more HP in that case.

Now if the single spike has less ‘area’ to take in air than the throttle body, then you should see an improvement with a second intake, but only up to the ‘area’ of the throttle body.

Even if you do see an improvement, I don’t see it being more than a few HP.

Looking at the area of the openings for air flow on my spike (D&M Twister) I can tell that the area of the openings is way larger than the area of the ‘face’ of the intake pipe (which is about the size of the throttle body).

IMO (just eyeballing areas/sizes) a single spike does not starve the engine of air, and adding a second will look very cool, but not increase HP.

Or I’m nuts.

Either way.
