I've been posting here and there, and just realized that I never entered a proper introduction (sorry, Mods!). So, here goes.
I live near Pittsburgh, PA, USA, and bought my metallic silver Fury in September 2010, near the tail end of the riding season. I'd never ridden a motorcycle or even a dirt bike up until then, so the bike had to sit while I waited for my safety course over three weeks later. My dad would ride the bike up to an abandoned car dealership parking lot while I followed in my car. Once there, we'd switch and he'd teach me the ropes. Dad's been riding for almost 8 years now and owns a TRICKED out Honda VTX 1300 Retro. Beautiful bike, and I vowed that if I ever became single again, I'd buy a bike and ride with him.
Low and behold, that's what happened. Became single in July, bought the bike a month later, and haven't looked back since. I picked up riding very quickly and passed my safety course with flying colors (only got 3 points because of the straight-away brake test...I skidded 2 feet because I had the dirt bike for the course and it was raining out, oh well).
Since the purchase, I've been buying parts and upgrading the bike all on my own. I'm not a mechanic other than doing basic tasks on cars, such as air intake installs, oil changes, etc. But when it comes to my Fury, the love I have for it is reinforced because of the fact that I do everything myself, within reason. For example, I didn't do my wheel install because I don't have a lift or the tools necessary to do something like that. But all the chrome dress-up accessories, performance upgrades, and all the rest have been done by me. My dad never seemed so proud of me, which is an awesome feeling.

When I ride, I really feel one with the bike.
One of the key features of my bike is the gas tank paint job I had done by artist Debra Mahan of Pittsburgh. The front and rear fenders and Honda chin spoiler are all going to be painted in the future to match the theme, but the tank was first and has become the main focal point of the bike.
The image is taken straight from the cover of my third published fantasy fiction novel, Chronicles of the Planeswalkers, Part Final: Alignment (there are two prior novels in the trilogy; this is the third novel). The beast on the cover is something I called the "Orus Dragon", a six-limbed, snake-like dragon wielding swords in each hand. The cover was originally created by Thomas R. Hunt III, a local Pittsburgh graphic artist who's incredibly talented. Deb Mahan air-brushed the gas tank by hand without tracing...crazy talent.
I have an extensive list of upgrades for the bike, mainly Kuryakyn and Cobra, but also including Irate Customs, Low and Mean, and others. I have a pending quote for a custom Danny Gray alligator skin solo seat with pillion pad (with my initials on it), which will match the dragon-esque imagery of the bike. Not sure if I'll do that just yet because I have the rest of the paint to finish, but it's almost certain I will at some point.
