it is funny. my buddy bought his new Super Deluxe Road King at Daytona last Spring...my bike got the ladies attention. His bike, well...the mini-van owners loved it.

If I wanted to be a follower, I’d have smoked my brains out after high school. I’d have taken a sh!t job and started a family, only to realize that I couldn’t raise my family with said sh!t job. I’d have done all the ‘cool’ things, listened to the scared little people who told me that military service was for mindless idiots…my children would probably be spoiled, underachieving little turds, having had a poor example. And, much like others I have known, I’d now be wondering wtf I had done with my life. Oh, yeah, and if I was a follower, I’d probably ride a Harley. Luckily, that’s not how things worked out. Say whatever you want about bikes, no one really cares…buuuuut, you might want to keep your comments about service personnel to yourself…We’re thin skinned for a reason...
On another note:
Quote:
“…55 percent of the vehicles our companies sell here (in the U.S.) are built here," he said. "More than half of our sales are products made here, and we consider ourselves part of the American auto industry …”-Kim Custer, spokesman for AIAM, representing Toyota, Mitsu, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Isuzu, and Subaru
|
You don’t suppose that the 55% Kim is referring to is shipped out and sold in some other country do you? My Toyota was made here, so was my wife’s Kia…my brother’s Suburban estaba hecha en Mèxico, as was his Dodge Ram and his wife’s PT Cruiser.

and THAT is why HD riders hate us sooooooo much, me thinks!
everywhere I go with the Fury, the girls love it.
my buddy's wife drove him nutz one day ... after seeing my bike in-person ... he said she talked about that bike for 7 hours straight. he wanted to strangle her AND me
as for the comments that got this thread going crazy:
* thank you again and again and again and forever ... all those who've served, are serving and will someday serve. i can never thank all of our military enough ... not ever
* thank you to Honda, Toyota, Kia, BMW and all the other "enemies" who've decided to build their cars here in America. for all those HD parts that come from overseas in order to build an HD here on American soil ... that makes an HD as American-made as the aforementioned (and forgotten) brands. so, either HD, Honda, Kia, BMW, Toyota, etc. are American products ... or all of them are not --- you just can't make up your own rules and have it both ways.

Friscomiami... I would like to apologize for stealing your thread. It is a great feeling when you are rolling with another make and get the attention. Makes it all worth while when you put all your time and money into it.

a lot of h-d riders have big ol egos, thats there problem. If you guys notice when one of them see the fury for the first time they talk to you and excited about seeing your "custom bike" until you tell them that its a honda, then they look at you from the end of their nose. Not all of them are like this but from my experiences, most of them are. I have both, fury and a fatboy, love both bikes but I just like to ride and thats the way everyone should be. I say they just need to get over there egos and ride, they would be a lot happier. I just don't understand why putting down our "foreign" made bikes make them feel better about their choice of buying a harley. I guess they need that reassurance.

CB, I have been watching this thread like a hawk! The raw attitude, comradery, the love of this country and the respect for our troops is just awesome to see and be a part of. F*** those who see it differently. My points still stands. I love my bike, this country, and am thankful for all the service men and women who have served for this country AND FOR MY FREEDOM TO CHOOSE WHATEVER THE F*** I WANT!

i love HD bashing. really, I do.
I don't think anyone intended to bash vets or current military. it was just a rant that had no rationale to it. that's ok, too. I fought** for that guy's right to be silly.
**honesty time: i really didn't fight--I was an Air Force photog. I took pictures of the fighting and the resultant human and collateral damages. the real men carried guns; i carried a ton of film cannisters and was scared enough to use the cameras as 'mental' shields. i figured if i kept 'shooting' i'd not think of where i was. it kind of worked.
