Did the ride today. Were about 9 of us. Reached a personal milestone with my bike today: got it slightly over 65mph. Also went about 95 miles total. And had a great picnic lunch at a lake afterwards. Overall - a great day.
Oops, oh yeah; forgot camera phone, so no pics. Sorry.

glad to see you had a good time. soon you'll be hitting the speed limiter like me.... which oddly (and probably a good thing) enough is not as rude as when i hit it in my camaro...

Looks like I will be in the toys for tots ride saturday. Gonna be about 80 miles and sheriff escorted. I got one of those "throttle bosses" for my right grip, I hope it helps. Suppose to be around 2 hrs and no stops, and I still have the stock seat.

Yay ! I made the 80 mile ride. Had a bunch of riders. Maybe about 65 bikes. Also inched up my personal best speed to 68mph. I may have hit 70, but I wasn't looking at the speedo at that time. Y'know, these rides are suppose to be for "a good cause", but yet everyone wants to go just as fast as they can along the course. There I was again near the end of the pack with several people passing me up. I just don't have that gang mentality where I can cruise 10 feet behind someone for 80 miles. I gotta have my safety distance. In town I realize you have to gang up, but I am keeping my safe distance on the open road.
OK, I uploaded some pics from the tft ride today. My album will be public until 12 midnight Sunday. Enjoy.
4 nov 2012: album now back to private, hope ya'll took advantage of the time it was public.

OK, last post for me about mpg; unless I change something that affects it.
This time around I got 51.36mpg !
This included my toys for tots ride. Yep, gotta definitely use those 4th and 5th gears to get this mpg.
One more thing, here's my bike pic after the toys for tots ride:

AARGH ! Great day Loner. Now your gonna start complaining about my pics I put up??
Phooey, just for you, here's a better larger version:

The number one rule when riding in a group is never ride faster than you are comfortable with. On the occasions I have been on a group ride when the moment the engines start it becomes a race I employ one or more of the following a) ride at my own pace, b) "accidentally" make a wrong turn and get lost or c) tell them at the next scheduled stop I had a call from a family member and have to head home. In any case that would be the first and last time I ride with that group.

I have seen more accidents than I care to remember when the group was packed to tight for the skill level of the riders or the ride leader went way to fast and everyone else was flat out trying to keep up and not get lost. Many of the riding groups say things like we cater for all skill levels, no rider left behind, we value safety blah blah blah but as soon as they get on the road it's every man for himself. I can live without that BS, I get more than enough BS from the government.

I have a select few buddies that I ride with here in Oz and another select group that I ride with in the US and Canada. I am picky because you and your buddies lives depend on each other.

Furyous you did the right thing by staying within your comfort zone, never let yourself be pushed further than you skills allow. I wouldn't worry to much about how fast you have been, staying alive is more important. Heck I have a very conservative rule about speed when my wife is on the back, never more than the speed limit in town and out on the open road/highway I try to stay 10 or 5 KLM under the posted limits as it gives me more time to stop (I've got an extra 50kg on board) and more time to react to or avoid the stupid things that the car drivers do.

Did a small veterans day parade today. Ended in a pavillion at a park. While in the pavillion a couple of the bikers rev'd their engines. My bike was still on so I added to the roaring din inside the pavillion. That sounded good, loud pipes reverberating inside an open pavillion.

Lets see, I think I have about 2k miles on my bike now. It's now february and seems like winter just aint gonna be that bad this year.
So I thought I'd crank up the florida caverns thread again. Whenever you guys deem the weather good enough, take a ride to the florida caverns. I'll meet ya'll there.

Default Benefit Ride for Butterfly Babies

On Sept 7, there was a benefit ride for Butterfly Babies starting at the Florida Caverns.
Registration was at 10am.
Roll-out was at 11am.
Cost was $15.
Just put the word out for the fury's that lived around the Marianna area. I went, there were no other fury's to ride with.
I would have put up the PDF of the article, but this site limits my upload to only 19.5kB, and the file is 2.05MB.
So if you had questions, the person to contact was Ashley McLean at 850-693-4285.
