Fury project log....under construction

Let me start with this, I still do not own a fury. Hahaha....but I will soon.

This a spot to document projects for my future fury and once I finally purchase one.

Now the plan is to essentially use it like s set of legos. Each year, I plan to essentially make all new stuff for my future ride.

Todays project is a double sided bobber rear fender. I made this "pill" with the intention to cut it in half once I have the fury. I will modify the shape as needed but I am about ready whenever I make my purchase.

2nd project ......fury tank expansion.

Purchased a mangled tank. The plan is to cut it in half, repair the dents, then add about 3 inches to the front taperng down to the rear. I hope it will add about 3/4 to 1 gallon while maintaining the factory tank profile.
I will probably add a viewing window guage to the tank before welding it back up. I would love to make a molded pyrex glass window but I might keep it simple and use tubing.

Yup, saw that and instantly recognized it, along with having my instant approval. Great way to fab a custom tank.

I believe the major push pull metal work is sufficient enough to move on to the modification phase. Once I split the tank, I will smooth the big impacted area on the wheel. For now, I could actually weld her back up and smooth the tank with filler. Not my style though.

What do yall think though so far?

Looking great! Awesome to see Marilyn live on! I agree on not using filler, that takes skill, and not everyone has it. In fact, most don't. Credit where credit is due on this job.

Ok....got some work done. Picked up some 18 guagecold rolled steel, made a pattern, split the tank, smoothed the dents on the english wheel, cut out a tank expander piece, mocked it all up and managed to annoy my wife with all the hammering and the stench of grinding metal. Tired now.

The tank will end up being the same width at the seat but 4 inches wider at the filler. All told...my calculations are showing that the size should end up at about 4.7 to 4.8 gallon. At 45 mpg I will end up with about a 213 mile range on the high end. That exceeds my goal of at least 190 miles. I am happy that my goal of .75 to 1 gallon is going to be exceeded.

Enjoy the pics.
