Clutch been staying engaged and have been adjusting cable to get clutch to disengage now have run out of adjustment and clutch stays engaged.
Clutch or cable?
Alright well I had this write-up almost initially completed, and the forum crashed on me and I lost everything. So I'm going to not go in depth as much with my initial description of the issue, why it happens, but it can be found if you jump on the VTX forums. Issue Background: When cold, in...
Stays engaged. Put in 1st and let off clutch and it sits there running but won't move. Like it stays in neutral but could adjust cable and would work good a few days then do it again. Now out of adjustment.
I changed the cultch... I used a Barnett clutch and use the honda 10/30 oil not the 10/40 .. in the cold weather the heavy oil is to thick.. I have heard of people drilling some ectra holes in the clutch basket...
only takes about an hour- hour and a half to change it out the clutch couldnt get over how easy it was...
I only use the 10/40 in the summer like in july and august (i live in florida and rode everyday for 2 years till last christmas).. after the change ran better than new..

dont even know how to answer this..... full disclosure I am a boat mechanic and have been in since the 90s... so do I know how oil works? YES I DO and they are not the same...
and pretty sure HONDA recommends using the oil this way. one in the hot and one in cold weather temps. and this bike uses the engine oil to lube the clutch..
Yes, the bike does use engine oil in the transmission/clutch. Fairly common in modern motorcycles. The hot and cold temperatures that you may operate in are the entire point of multi weight oils. Just so you don't have to change from one weight in the winter to another in the summer.
Who the hell is tellin' all these gross bitches that they look good enough to be taking selfies? ...........and why the fuck do you keep posting them, you nasty fucking bastard? You have some sick fucking fetish about these ugly fuckers.
I'm the old king of thread derailment, but you have surpassed me with this nasty shit.
I had a mate that used the wrong oil and it turned to glue on the clutch. Needed to be removed and bathed re-oiled and then next oil change sooner than usual. And a cranky old XS650 suffered from the last owner over adjusting the clutch cable and bending the the actuator arm, there was no way to adjust that, needed repairing the arm.
