Ok, this was started in the thread about who's done the lowering spring & tony's mod, but it's really a separate related issue, so I thought I'd post it here.

Anyway, the question I have is clearance with bars/instrument cluster with aftermarket risers (or without for that matter).

As you can see from the photo, with the cannella risers already canted inward at an angle, the clearance from tank to bottom of instrument cluster is not great. And although I didn't think to turn the handlebars, on sharp left or right turns, the wiring bundles on the handlebars very nearly touch the tank already. What would canting these things a further 8 degree inward do?
Or is the triple tree top kept at the same angle as OEM tree, and the holes into which the fork tops slide cut at 8 degrees? I admit to knowing absolutely nothing about how aftermarket tripletrees would work. [Ignore the fat guy decal on the tank; dunno who snuck in my garage and stuck that on there ]

This is a good question, but without trying the two together, we would not want to guess on the end result. It looks close as it is. We will be working on a install video of the complete kit with the new brake line. Everything else will bolt up as stock.

I understand. But what about the 8 degree question? I mean, is the top of your new tripletree when it's available going to be 8 degrees inward? or will it be same angle as oem and only the forks will angle out from bottom of tree at 8 degree angle?

Like I say, I dunno doodle about triple trees ...

I do not have any pictures to offer at the moment, but the rake in the trees are in the neck, which means the top tree is 90 off the forks and in turn does move the handlebars back some. I will get this measurement with and with out the trees, so you can see the difference.
Have a safe Memorial day.

I am not a professional by any mean, but in my whacked out head the shock will have to penetrate the upper tree at an angle for the handlebars to remain in the proper position. the lower the will have to be extended forward to rake the front out more. which creates a prob for the fork extensions because factory specs are that the shock is at a 90 deg angle to the trees. am i thinkin right?

Be funny in a sad kinda way if this meant that to use the 8 degree tree and keep an aftermarket riser I'd have to scrap the cannella and go back to the damn scootworks for the additional clearance lol ...

Spot on, the new trees do not allow the Forks to penetrate through the top tree. You get new extenders that will insert into the top tree for a snug fit.

Hey Jack, this one's for you, BOY!!! :p

Did anyone with the L&M 8-degree tree & 3" fork extenders setup ALSO keep/add the Cannella Risers?

If so, did they work or were things clipping the tank because it was all too close?

The combination of the Cannella risers and new tree had clearance issues on the tank and they were not able to work without some additional modifications.

This older thread made me think of Stonewheel. Anyone here from him nowadays?

I have spoken to Stonewheel on the phone and thru txt the last couple of months and he is okay. He is a truck driver and working some rough schedules.:( I know that’s still no excuse for not checking in from time to time!;)

Thanks Dave.
Since I just bought, installed and love my Cannella Risers AND since I've already spent too much on this bike; I guess I'll do w/o the 8º trees ... for now.

I love the Cannella risers and was thinking about the 8 degree.I'll stay with what I have.
Something to think about.
When you install the 8 degree trees it will bring the bars back even further.
SO if you installed something like the scootworks risers that do work with the trees it would probably be close to the same position your in now.
I had the scootworks on before I put the trees on and after I put the trees on with the risers I noticed the bars were a little closer to me then before.
I am willing to bet mine are just about in the same position as yours.
Just a thought.
As you can see if my speedo was any furthe back getting gas would be a problem!

I had the Cannella risers on my bike before I did the 8* trees. Now I have the VTX-Treme risers (similar to scootworks) and the only thing I notice is that the bars sit higher. As far as coming back, it is close to the feel of the Cannella’s.
