I just went to the Big Dog forum. Man, those guys are brutal! Hey, if I could afford a bigger bike, I'd probably have one. I don't care what you have, there is always gonna' be a better bike out there. One interesting thing I read was that if you own a Big Dog, you'd better carry some tools. A couple of the Big Dog owners even commented on how reliable and low to no maintenance a metric Honda is.

Yeah, I guess I'll be throwin' my Fury, (aka furby according to Big Dog riders), away since the Big Dogs say it's a piece of crap. What a fool I've been.

Most people are gonna act like that. Weather there happy with there bike or not, there gonna defend there brand and model. On the other hand, many of us just like motorcycles in general. I have more then one bike, 600cc supersport of the year; 2009 Kawasaki zx6r. I wouldn't try and knock your bike or pick it apart unless you insulted mine

i have a "furby" and a 05 zx10r. like you, i appreciate the fact that people choose to ride on 2 wheels. i could care less who made those wheels. when i encounter the haters, i just laugh and ride on. why waste valuable riding time trying to defend a bike that doesn't need defending? we're all on the same page on this forumn and i like that

If you read their posts I have been defending the fury under the same name as here under: furby sighting - BIG DOG Motorcycle Forums

This is why I have tried to discourage some members here from completely bashing someone for owning a bike other than a fury.
Chopped -

I read a couple of those pages you linked too on the BD forum. The first few dudes were typical cornballs who had to be all mighty proud n shit but I was glad to see more n more dudes defended the "let's just ride" aspect. Seemed to be like 50-50, not as bad as I thought. I will ride with anyone too and I have found that most bikers are genuinely kool and respectful of whatever your riding.
You held your ground pretty good ...... except when you said you don't plan on riding the Fury much anymore unless on bad weather days or if your girl wants to roll - LOL

Like to hear your true comparison when you get it rollin'. Yeah the BigDog has more power but I bet the Honda is way more comfortable to ride and smoother.

Yea, just think I'm going to ride the BD a lot when I first get it. Like anything, when the newness wears off I'm sure I'll still ride the fury a lot. The deal on the Big Dog isn't even finalized yet. Will know by tomorrow if it is going to happen. I'm trying to knock the price down a little more to make it affordable.

I rode over 1000 miles this past weekend beside a Big Dog K-9. That's a nice bike and kudos to anyone who rides one. Each to their own as long as they ride. I can say that the Big Dog and the Honda have the same mileage when it comes to fuel stops. At our last break point we were talking about his bike and I asked him to summarize in one word the Big Dog riding experience. His reply was "brutal". He said that every bone in his body is affected by the ride.

So they think all that about the Fury, huh?
Wonder what they'd say about my family bike... :D

They're acting like Big Dogs are the best of the best. It's still just a production chopper...

I had a buddy of mine get a custom designed $40K Bid Dog.. It literally rattled the windows when he pulled into the drive way. He had that bike for a little over a month and had it stolen in Malibu. He stopped at a restaurant and argued with a valet to let him park it up front. He spent the next month dealing with the insurance company as they thought he conspired to steal his own bike for insurance.
Needless to say he never bought another bike..
Someone is enjoying his $40K bike somewhere..

I see it like this. Our Fury is like a Honda car. It's built like a rock, it looks good, and a 5-year warranty? Their Big Dog, Maybe a Mercedes or a BMW? It costs more, maybe looks better, and comes with more of a bang. It also costs more in the maintenance area and 10-15 years down the road, which will still be running? I think very few BMW drivers would look at a guy driving a Honda and give him shit for it.

And anyway, it's just a BMW right? There's always gonna be a better, more expensive car out there. Big Dogs are nice bikes, that's obvious, but it's still not a Ferrari. Or even a Maserati. They're just insecure and pissed that we paid half what they did for a bullet proof bike that's a breat bang for the buck.

I personally love my bike, and plan on keeping it for a very long time. Who knows, I might own a Bull Dog someday, maybe a Harley here in there. Then again, i'm only 17. I ride to ride. I might crack a few Harley jokes with the guys i ride with, but i still respect them. I know I have a great bike. If they don't see that, that's their problem. I'm still gonna be out there, riding, no matter what anyone says about my "Furby."

I bought mine to RIDE not to impress anyone. Already have my beautiful woman and lots of other toys. 40,000 does not seem wise in a good economy. But to each their own.
Well, if you took the time to read my other posts before being critical of my decision you would see that I am getting it at a drastically reduced price. I have talked them down $10,000 now and am on the way to getting more off or extras thrown in for free.

Chopped, reduced price or not, if you can afford it and want to ride it, go for it! I have a cousin (few years younger than me, but close) who has 3 harleys....tries to give me s#!t about my Fury....I remind him that I taught him to ride when we were young and we were happy to get on any two wheeled bike and go.....it's all about the fun in sitting on that bike and taking off on your adventure - even if it is to the store..... If I could afford it, I'd get a dog, and other bikes to try out and experience, but truth is, I can't.....plastic parts or not, I love the Fury, she feels good under me, I don't try to outrun anyone, and I flat out enjoy riding her and just simply looking at her....she's what I want and I'm really happy with her.

No West Coast Choppers allowed? ha
We don't even ride it. Don't plan on it either. Only two people have ridden it: Jesse James and Sam Childers. Its an Angels of East Africa theme bike we won in a raffle put together by Sam Childers. It's way to valuabe to ride. The story behind the bike is priceless itself.
