First, let me say hello to everyone here. The Fury is not my first bike, been riding for over 30 years but never pictured myself on a bike like this. It's a fun bike to ride and glad I got it. Now.....

I just finished my first service and bought a set of Cobra Swept's, very happy with the look and sound. I installed them myself (consider myself fairly good with a wrench) the istallation was easy but I rode it today for the fist time since the install and the tinging noise from the heat shield drives me crazy. I am overly picky when it comes to rattles etc.. on anything.

My question is if you have this exhaust does yours do it? Will it settle down (only 40 miles since installed) or should I loosen the clamps and reset them?

Any advice or nput would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure what uou are describing but you might be hearing noise from due to heat expansion and contraction from the exhaust especially after a ride when the pipes are cooling down making a tinging noise and it is normal and you will not get away from it.

That what I am talking about, I can hear it while riding, while its not bad, it's just annoying to me and was hoping it might settle down a bit. I am very proud of my rides but this just makes it sound cheap in my opinon. But it is what it is so I will learn to live with it.

At speed when you are hearing it? At speed you should not be able to. It may go away once the pipes settle in. One possible consideration is, if it is happening is something is not tight. Also, next time you hear it, at idle, or at speed, place your left hand on the front of the front jug cover, and left side, sometimes they have to be double taped in that area to stop a vibrating sound, and pipe covers which could sound similar. Also check back side covers while riding. Maybe you could get up to speed and when you are hearing this for a couple minuets, throttle down to idle and see what happens.

PS If you are hearing this while riding, I don't think it is a heat issue, as your pipes are hot and no expansion or contraction should be going on. IMO
? Do you have your baffles in and are you running
any type of FC? Still thinking it is soft vibration.

As red told me,,once it was tuned properly you will hear beautiful music from those pipes,,,my pipes sound like a salene Cobra when I throttle up and let it come back down,,,it makes some awesome sounds,,,,,,but never heard it ting or backfire,,,too me it sounds like coolness :D

Hey Reel, It's just part of the ride and its just the pipes saying thanks for taking me out for the day. Really its of no concern and you will learn to get used to it. its just the pipes heating up and expanding same on the down swing when they are cooling down. If you happenn to look in the mirror and notice your pipes bouncing down the road behind you then its time for concern until then sit back and enjoy the ride.

That is what it sounds like!

No pings either when I am riding. When I shut it down there is all kinds of pinging due to contracting.

Update

Well after another 50 plus miles they have quied down some, I dont really hear it while running but did hear it slightly at stop lights etc...

I do still have the baffles in but have not installed a FC yet but it has been ordered!

Will keep you posted, the intial "tinging" was freaking me out as stated above, I cant stand rattles etc... I will be down in the Keys for the 4th so I will be putting a few more miless onher in the next few weeks.

Once again, thanks for all the input.
