Cobra Swepts and L&M Lowering Spring

I just recieved my lowering spring from Low and Mean. Is anyone running it with the Cobra Swepts and if so, is there any problems with clearance? I'm a new rider, so I don't ride agressively; however, I do live in the mountains so all riding is in the twisties.

Hope you don't mind a few scratches on them...

Don't lower it ALL the way and you should be fine, but then there's that occasional right hand turn with a dip in the turn...

Write to Sea Dawg, think he has this exact set-up if I remember correctly.

That damn right hand turn with the dip! I just scraped my pipes for the 3rd time. I thought that since I turned that knob almost all the way up on the shock that I would be safe, but I apparently still have to go slow on that particular turn. :D
Hmmmmm...you guys are not encouraging at all! I am not a light weight, but okay for my height 5'10" and 172 lbs. I wonder if rider weight makes a difference? I also have XOPRODOX foot pegs and they are quite a bit bigger than stock. Do you scrap your pegs too or just the pipes? I really hate how high the back fender sits! My husband has the PCS lowering kit on his Raider which lowered it about 2 inches. No problems with the pipes scraping (he has cobra swepts too) just getting it in and out of the trailer for shows.
Should I install it?

I've gotten used to cornering and slowing down when I need to... after the first couple of scrapes on the frame and the pegs, I slowed down, so yes... I have scraped the pegs, but it was only on the first day that I put in the shock and I haven't done it since...

The only time I scraped my Samson pipes on a turn was before I changed out the shock and it was on a down to the right turn, ever since then I have slowed down and understand the feel of my bike.

It's not as bad as you think, just take everything slowly like you were driving a low rider (even if you haven't visualize it)... practice putting your heel down a little bit to feel out the corner with the heel of your foot while it's on the peg... when you feel it scrap a little bit, that is when you should slow down and straighten out the bike a tad bit on the corner. BTW, 172 lbs compared to us is a lightweight, I weight around 230 lbs myself, don't ask Steve's weight, think he broke his scale... ;)
Might be better off with the Tony Mod to lower fender for your rideing conditions? And don't like draging feet or slowing up-slowing down while in a curve. MO
I have the cobra swept and ride with the stock shock as low as it goes. I also have forward controls that are much longer then the stock. I weigh 235lbs. I have scraped the stock pegs but not the newer fowards. I would say I have been very, very close. If I had the LM spring I think I would scrape.

no, don't necessarily SLOW down, I just know my bike better and was saying to her that she needs to SLOW down until she understands the different turning radius now... I actually think I go faster than I used to... lol
i have the swepts and the lowering spring.you do need to slow down on the hard right turns till you get use to it.shouldnt be a problem for you though.riding stance is a lot better and looks good.its a trade off.look good or hard turns.
Thanks guys. As a new rider, I don't want anything extra to worry about. This mod isn't worth damage to $700+ pipes. I think I'll hold on to it for a while. The Tony Mod is intimidating to the non-mechanic; however, I have found a bike builder in my area, so I may ask him what he thinks about doing it for me. Thanks again for the opinions!
I have that set up and ride with it almost all the way down 200# 6' (Beergut lol) the only time i have ever hit is on a hard right hander thru a drive way or other such condition (Max compression) other wise never have hit other wise and i spend the most of my time in the mountains..hope this makes you more at ease....:D
I checked with a custom welder in my area. If I made the cuts and aligned everything up, welding would be $100-$125. You have all the info and pictures on Forum for your guy to see what is involved! A picture is worth--you know.
DAMN! Looks like performance issues either way! I am all about form but not at the expense of function. I think I'll put the height issue of my rear fender on hold for a while.
