Custom Post Trophies

There's ongoing work on updating several things around the forum, and H.Q. asked:
Would you be interested in custom trophies for your site? The default trophies are very vanilla (this is what's currently on FuryForums):

If you were going to add to the list for your site, what would you want to add?
Here's a site with interesting trophies:

While there are already a few things on my list of stuff to complete (member requests and new Smileys) H.Q. asked, so I'm passing it down the chain...

I'm not fussed about them, but to be honest the default trophies seem kiddish to me and if that was the selection then I'd rather not have them. Our members are far away from social media addiction because we are old farts. Many of us, myself included don't even have facebook and have no interest in ever wasting time with such a thing.

We could skip them for all I care. Maybe you should set up a poll

That's a good idea, thank you. A poll has been added to this thread.

I should also note the "vanilla Trophies" exist, what H.Q. is asking is in essence, "How bad would you screwballs like to mess them up?"

We can:
  • Remove an existing trophy.
  • Add new trophies.
  • Set or change the Post Count or Reaction Score that triggers a trophy being awarded.
So we could add something like:
  • Sparkless Plug (after making 5 posts)
  • Fork Bender (after making 20 posts)
  • Saddle Straddler (after making 100 posts)

  • hOT sTART pROBLEM (5 of your posts received positive feedback (liked by other members))
  • The Hairy Goat Award (7687 posts liked)
and, from my understanding, Fury Of The Month Winner

ANNNND, another option is we can also disable Trophies completely.

Trophies can be seen on a member's profile under the About section, then looking toward the bottom of the page.

I never knew they were there. I had to dig through my profile to find them. Given almost no one will ever see them (I thought they would show up under your avatar) they are a bit of a non issue. If we are to keep them then we may as well have some motorcycle specific ones.

I don't even know what the hell we're talking about, so if they exist, shit can them and let's forget about it. Sounds like nonsense to me.

I'm sure turning them off will have an unexpected impact on something, I'll look into it and report back.

I'm not sure that there is value in turning off something no one knew about in the first place.

Trophies allow members to be awarded a trophy and the associated points when certain thresholds and criteria are met. The top trophy point earners are then displayed in the notable members list.
If we turn Trophies off the accumulated points will most likely go away (see attached). If we add new ones then members can accumulate more than 113 points, plus have fun with it.

I get that...EVERYONE deserves a trophy...for participating.

I have no dog in this fight. Just making fun of the process.

That sounds like a good reason to keep them. I agree that turning things off often breaks all kinds of stuff you never realised needed the thing you just turned off.

My thought is if we keep the points system we should improve it so it at least "doesn't suck," otherwise deactivate it. If nobody really cares and it's not fun, why keep it? (others already said this) Maybe people really value "their points," and if so that's fine, but we should then make it a fun system that applies to us and doesn't max out at 113 points.
