For those of you that have changed your exhaust and intakes do you notice any performance increase?

I have the cobra swepts (baffles removed) and the Fuggin 90 degree intake along with the Fi2000r. Today I spent a fair amount of time making adjustments and to be honest, I think I have it back to running as good as it was stock. I really don’t notice any improvement. I even considered putting the stock tear drop air cleaner back on to see if the bike runs any better. I am coming to the conclusion that the Honda engineers knew what they were doing when they designed this bike and any mods like this will more than likely decrease performance. My mods are mostly for looks and sound anyway.

I'm interested to hear some other points of view on this also. All the reading I have done I thought that changing the intake, exhaust and adding a FC added more horsepower and torque, but with that being said I would think that you would have to get your FC adjusted right to get the benefits of the exhaust and intake. Now what I am unsure of is what type of affect besides looks the 240 rear end would have on the bike.

On another note, Richard I haven't seen a way to subscribe to a thread, is that the case or am I just over looking that option? Would be nice to be able to subscribe to a thread so anytime someone posts in that thread I could be notified and read up what's new.

Richard, you seen my first cut and weld when i done the Harley tips on factory pipes. Here is my third creation for the same pipes and tip. along with the 3/4 Inch holes drilled into factory intake to let the motor inhale easier. you won't believe the acceleration now. I don't run anything fi2000 or power commander. And I am feeling pretty confident that I could out run most any Fury short of the ones with major internal work. Next time we ride i will let you ride it and open her up. I feel one hell of a difference for a set of $40 tips and a few hrs cutting n welding and two funny looking holes

I have aftermarket exhaust, powercommander, and stock intake. I agree, the torque on the low end has improved.
My last setting tonight was back to the recommended Cobra settings of 1-2-0. I tried several variations and either had trouble with it out of the hole or top end acceleration in 4th and 5th gear. My best luck were at the following settings. What do you suggest?
1.5 - 3 - .5
1 - 2 - 1
1- 2 - 2

I defiantly felt a difference when I had the Barons big air, cobra swept, and fi2000 put on all at once. After a half hr of riding with that done it was normal. Now it feels slow again. Richard, if you have access to a stock fury jump on it. Maybe you will feel the difference then.
Also after talking to the Honda mechanic I use I gotta tell you I beleive what he says.
He knows what everything is (after market) for our bikes and what it does just by memory. after going over a million different parts with him because I wanted the best performance out of the exhaust, intake, etc, he basically said "look, all these after market parts vendors can tell you what ever they want but you show me an intake that will give you 5 more horse power and I'll show you that it doesn't! Pick one!" After that, like Richard I went more for the look I wanted.
If the parts guy is right or wrong, I don't know. I do know my bike had a little more power, it looks good, I payed to much for the parts, and I will be spending a hell of a lot more money on my bike for things I don't need thanks to you people. Fat tire here I come! Well, in a couple months.

I remember your bike running pretty damn good, that’s for sure. I am just not happy when I role on the throttle in 4th and 5th gear, seems too sluggish to me. When riding with NMUCat, he could pull away from me in those gears. I feel it is running better now, but I need to get back on a stock Fury to know for sure.

I have been told the same thing by several Honda mechanics. I called Cobra late this afternoon and went over my set up and pot settings. I came away from the conversation with the impression that the more I can move back towards the “stock” the better the bike will run.

Richard, I am running with D&M Spike and Viper 2 exhaust. Installed the FI2000R FC and have been adjusting pot settings until blue in the face!

My pot settings now are 4.5 - 6 - 2 and I'm leaving them there. The bike starts immediately and runs very good. I pulled a plug several times and with this setting they are not 'tan' but not real dark or wet either.

I have tried lowering the settings close to factory set but lost performance and harder starting. Too high gave me 'lags' in acceleration and a little too rich out the exhaust.

I think I have better performance than it was stock, but need to find another Fury to test that notion.

I've got Morton Inferno's, Kury Pro R Hypercharger with Wild Things FC. Just gotta put the friggen things on the bike now..should have it done within the week! I know its gonna take a while to dial in but I'm sure it will be worth it. I have a buddy that has a 1300VTX with the hypercharger and it's extremely faster. A guy just has to be careful with the FC settings. Will post pics as soon as it's done.

Brevill 460 are the pot numbers are running at with the Fi2000. I waited until I picked up my new inspection sticker and have now pulled out the baffles in cobra swept pipes and I'm running with spike intake along with cobra fi2000 fuel controller. My pots are presently set at the stock default setting and haven't got a chance to play around with them yet. I love the new sound of the pipes at idle and taking off but on deceleration it sounds kinda weird and very throaty sound through the pipes. Its not backfiring or popping and hard to describe this sound but its like air being sucked through the pipes giving a noise like air rushing through the pipes. I never had this sound with the baffles in and I don't if its a normal sound with the baffles out for this style of pipes or if its because of the spike is sucking more are and wondered if anyone else has this sound on decel with the cobra pipes.

I know what you’re talking about Dave; I would describe it as a “fluttering” kind of sound. The sun is now up on the East coast so get on the bike, hammer down on 4th & 5th gear and report back. I’ll give you a half hour or so. Thanks.

Rich are you saying you want to race again, thinking you will fare better?
Yeah, I’m ready to race; pretty sure it would be much closer now. I never jumped on MyFuryRide’s throttle to hard so I don’t know how his would compare to yours. Out of all the Fury’s I have ridden, I think yours ran the best. That is why I keep coming back to the stock set up question.

Where’s the Honda mechanic’s on here that can help with this question?
