So what is covered and what is not? You say “you don’t have to touch it for 5 years”, does that cover regularly scheduled service also?
richard,
it covers everything front to back.with my dealer it even includes tire change if you buy the tire from them.they will put any kind of tire you want on it.when it comes to sceduled service everything is taken care of for 5 years.no cost to me.they have been doing my vtx for three years now and no cost to me. dealer is a retired marine and service is a big thing to him.he will also come out and shake your hand, fix you a cup of coffee and bull crap with you.all in all its worth every dime.

Thanks, I just might inquire about it at my dealer. If your going to be riding a lot, it sounds like it would be a good deal.

Need Help!!!!!

Ok guys, I just got back from signing the papers on my Fury. The parts guys were awesome, very friendly and helpful. The guy who sold me the bike, very cool. The guy i had to work with on fiancing thought was cool, until he started talking about 5 year extended warranty. He sighted me with the amount: $1,144. I thought this was pretty high, so I told him I think I will pass. I could tell he was getting pissed, he asked me why? I told him I thought that it was a bit much. He said with the mods. they are doing that the Honda warranty wouldn't cover most of what could go wrong. I am having them put on Cobra pipes, hypercharger, PCV. I asked if I could get it at another time, but he said this offer was only today, meaning I can get it later but pay more.

1. Did I make a huge mistake? I am not very mechanical

2. Can I go to another Honda dealership around here and get a extended warranty from them.

This is the first new anything that I have purchased so I need some help. Thank you in advance. Take care.

Good on you. If the "Honda warr." wouldn't cover it and" it is only good today" then it is probably a waste of money, good only at that dealer. The Honda warr comes on the bike and is good for 1 yr, it is extend able and you can purchase it anytime in the next 364 days after the purchase at any dealer, or directly from Honda. here is an example Direct Line Parts - Honda Fury VT1300CX Warranty
And you will be getting a notice from Honda that says something like "we noticed you did not purchase the Honda ext. warr., if you purchased a warr. check with your dealer as it is not Hondas ..." and will offer it to you again (the real Honda one )

I'll help you guys out. Typical warranties have 50% margin. The warranty retails for $800 and cost is $400 to the dealer. If you want to add roadside assistance its an extra $180 with $90 cost to the dealer. You did not get this information from me.:)

Heres my thoughts. I can understand the benefit of how an extended warranty could help if you ran into problems later. What I've never been able to grasp is the concept that we pay for a motorcycle, stereo, tv, etc. They get our money, we get the product. Yet somehow it became general practice to expect us to pay extra money to guarantee that what we just paid for will continue to work.... If I buy a bike, I don't want to pay extra for it to work like it's supposed to. Same goes for stereo, tv, or any other product that they offer extended warranties on. When did consumers allow this to become acceptable?
I went to the post office the other day and shipped a package. I PAID the shipping fees to have it delivered. THEN I had to pay for a tracking number in case they lost it and an insurance policy in case they damaged it. I guess I was under the impression that my shipping costs were payment to provide their service. Sorry I kinda went off here but that's a pet peeve with me. If I pay you to do something or for something, I shouldn't have to pay extra to make sure you do it right or it will actually keep working.

I started this thread to find out what the going rate was before I went into my dealer and discuss price on the warranty,I heard 379,459 as the lowest prices.I knew that Directline offered it for 499.Told the manager the lowest,379,he came back and said that was below his cost and the best he could do was 650,he couldnt sell it for 499 like Directline or the GM(owners daughter) would have his head,I said let me talk to her,he went and talked to her again and informed her of the 499 offer,he also told her to look up how much money I have spent there in the past year and when she saw the figure she gave in.The dealers want our money, you just have to inform them you have other options and when they can go online and see with their own eyes they know your not bluffing, good luck to others that are going to look into the warranty. To me I bought peace of mind while I am still making a bike payment.

I don't mind giving the dealers my business, after all I bought a bike from them and are having them put on about 3,000 in upgrades. What I don't like is people trying to bend me over, I know times are hard, I know its a business, but 1,144 for an extended warranty???????? Rape.
