I was warming up my bike in the driveway tonight and suddenly I could not hear it running. I ran out and it was laying on its side.
The handle bar hit the gas tank and put a big ass dent in it, chipping the paint down to the metal. The rear turn signal and the foot peg broke. The very back of the swing arm was scratched, and the clutch lever is bent.
The main thing I am worried about is the tank. I was going to replace all the other stuff eventually anyway and the license plate relocator I am building will cover the swing arm scratches.
Apparently the Fury will not stay put on a slightly sloped driveway. I had it parked on a little bit of an angle.

F*** is all I can say also! Call some new and used auto dealers and ask who is their Dent Doctor, they use metal rods and suction cups to pop dents out without streching out the metal. they work on new cars and used. They even do autos with hail damage and can do it so car does not have to be repainted. Also ask who there colorite guy is, they do touch up, and scrach repair, chip repair with air brush. Might save a few bucks.:( Thats second one I know of off kickstand, other soft ground, same damage...

Same exact thing happened to me except my bike wasn't running at the time. Luckily, it only put a tiny dent in the tank and did not chip the paint. Nothing else was damaged. I'll take it in to a paintless dent repair when I get around to it. I'm sorry to hear it happened to you too man. If there's any doubt now, I leave it in gear. Of course, that wouldn't have helped your situation....

Sorry to here about your Fury. I'm assuming you parked the bike facing down the driveway. I learned a long time ago the weight of the bike can cause the kick stand to collapse. Never park facing down hill. Good luck on fixing your Fury.

everyone has had a bike fall at one point or another, so dont beat yourself up badly. I included a little helpful info to try preventing this and to help you fix yours up.

Park your bike where grade goes with the front of the bike being highest, a slight side angle is iffy as heck and a slight angle with back being higher is a NoNo. This forces the bike to want to roll back, which forces the kickstand forward and keeps it out to support the bike.

A kickstand coaster, parking plate, or whatever you may know it as is also a very good cheap investment. I live in a rural area, work at concert venues and often have to park in dirt These are plates with a lip to keep the kickstand from sliding that you put under the kickstand so it places the weight of the bike over a bigger area so it doesnt sink the kickstand into the dirt as easily.

Touch up the swingarm reguardless. If the scratches are at all deep you could have rust start there eventually. I would check to see if the handle bars are bent at all too. Check with RedSpawnSilver he swapped his rear fender I dont know if he has the old one, or is willing to part with it, he has silver, Also check with some of the guys that have the sumo kit, or you might be able to find one on ebay (200 for front and rear in Blue on ebay). The clutch lever i would try straightening to buy some time until replacements come in and replace with the ones you want (Kuryakyn Chrome ones on ebay are 37.70 or 75.50 for zombie after shipping). The peg depending on where it broke and if its front or rear: if its front I would check on getting forward controls if you can afford it (500 for accutronics on ebay) Turn signals are ugly stock so take advantage of this opportunity to swap them. I cant find a gas tank for you right now. If you can deal with it for a while, you can use the dented one to practice painting on so you can learn a little with it and eventually possibly do some of your own paint work.

That totally sux...
Sorry to hear all the damage..
Some are items easily fixed, maybe the dent remover can help with the tank..

I was loading my bike into the trailer last weekend and almost had the kick stand go back on me..
Caught it quick and put it first gear.. I'm now leaving the bike in 1st gear when I park..

mine almost fell a few weeks ago. my buddies and i were stopped for a few minutes on a driveway with a slight grade, and we were facing downhill. i was parked right behind them and when i got off, something wasn't right in my peripheral, like i was moving or something lol! i looked at the bike and it was gently folding up the stand. if i would have completely turned away it would have fell and probably taken out one of my buds bikes too... from now on it ALWAYS stays in gear :D

Yea, to stop the bike, I just kick down the kickstand without putting it into neutral... Just a habit now I suppose. Guess it's a good habit to have apparently...

Sux that it fell over on ya dude, deepest sympathies...!

I feel your pain

The same thing happened to mine last year right after I had the pin striping done. Shop around if you decide to go with a new tank. I found that they do vary in price quiet a bit. I haven't swapped mine out yet but once I do I am going to look into the dent doctor suggetion and see what they can do. This i will have a spare just hope I dont ever need it.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Now may be a good time to upgrade some of the parts but if you decide to just replace the stock parts give me a pm because I may be able to help out. I still have a lot of the stock parts you may be looking for.

Thanks Guys

Wow, thanks for all the support!

Sounds like my insurance will cover it under comprehensive. I called the dealer and they gave me a rough quote of $1400. I think I will take the check, have the tank painted at the body shop and then use the rest of the money to buy aftermarked parts.
I already removed the turn signals and should be receiving my new Kury LED lights tomorrow.

That's one thing about buying OEM parts on an insurance claim, they almost always cost more than aftermarket so you can swap out and save money and get new stuff. :D

The tank is about 1100 if memory serves me right.
